dashiichi: I'm restricting the 3.6x release to my Expedition 2 save until things settle down. I always intended the Expedition saves to be throw-aways (at least back when we only had five save slots ;-) so I can use that save to try out the new features. And also to do stupid stuff like try to mine an entire floating island.
That's cool. :)

I'll consider that - patching but not playing my "main save" until things shake out better. That way I can get started on the new expedition. On the flip side, then I won't want to load my main save until it seems "safe" again to do so - and hopefully that would not be too long...

dremulator: i was just about to ask if you'd tried that
hopefully the 3.64.1 patch will solve that (it has arrived )

are you talking about the Galaxy version? as gog db says it's available

lol i haven't played this for two days as my pc makes my room to hot (i'm on my old laptop)

Falci: Yes, the bug was caused by 3.64.1. I think it's part of their fix for underground settlements. My settlement is atop a rectangular plateau clearly meant to accommodate a settlement. The icon for my overseer office is under the office as well, as of this patch.
hmm, ever since 3.64.1, my town is gone. The plateau it was on seemed to be reverted back to a hill. The icon is still there, I can teleport to it, just falling a few meters on arrival. Base objects I had created (landing platform etc) are still in place, giving a good hit where once other building where standing.
I thought, maybe because of by base, so I removed it all, even ported out of the system and then back, but nothing. Town is gone :( ... waiting for hotfix 64.2 now

ChewyWeAreNotHome: Start the game and at the main menu click on New Game and in the next window there is an option to start an expedition.

hardy83: Am I missing something, I started up my GoG NMS game and I can't start an expedition. It says it's complete but I've only done the 2nd one. Where you get the Mass Effect ship.
Some have reported having this as a bug in other forums.

Two fixes have been reported:
1. Verify the installation. If you have Galaxy installed then that is pretty easy but I do not remember how to do this in stand-alone. In Galaxy clock on the tool menu next to the Play button and select Manage Installation > Verify/Repair.
2. If you still have an older Expeditions Save either move it, back up and delete and/or convert that to a Normal save (as I recall just start the save and their was an option to convert to Normal).

EDIT: Once the older Expeditions save is gone or converted then you should be able to launch a new game then select Expedition. Suggestion - disable multiplayer for Expeditions, too many idiots on the same planet which may block you or create traps.

Good Luck

Playing the Expedition 3:

1. Tested twice crashed both times with Multiplayer disabled.
Warning crash bug when trying to ride the large strider and hit L Shift to make it go faster.

2. Unable to build or summon any exocraft.
Supposedly we have at the start both the pilgrim and the mech ability to summon.
Current save can not summon because I do not own them.
When I try to place them I get can only place 5 per planet.

3. Base building - Building floors then walls some walls can be walked through some can not.
Those that can be walked through can not be deleted because they are 'not there'.
Manual save and reload fixes the 'not there' walls.

I 'cheated' creating Herox by using the large refiner with Silver, Ammonia, and Cobalt.

1. Check key bindings just in case and possibly reassign. I have been using "B" without an issue to match some of the other boost keys.

2. Parafinium is hard to come by anyway. Once the Geobay is built you can delete it and still summon exocraft from the "X" menu. Of course this doesn't help if you are unable to get the blueprint to build the Geobay or summoning station (have never used this though) to get the exocraft on the planet first.

Herox can also be found in the Glowing Minerals by mining Floating Crystals or if you find Curious Deposits. The Floating Crystals come in bunches and after mining into you have to examine (use "E" to break these down). Yesterday I found 3 groups fairly close to each other totaling 31 and these returned a variety of minerals including 3 Herox. Herox is rare but also found in various drop boxes. You can also find the glowing crystals in the buried mineral formations although only 1 at a time. You can come across things like tritium, aronium, crystal sulfide, gold nuggets

EDIT: I had forgotten about using exocraft since I only use those as rolling warehouses (or mourges) and wasted a few hours with first try and then decided to just start over and in two hours yesterday was well ahead of my first start. I used the Pilgrim which counted as a Minotaur for the milestone.

Good Luck

EDIT 2: Just saw in another forum that others are having the same problem with hitting the limit for five Geobays so a simple solution is to dsiable multiplayer and you will be the only one with Geobays in your game.

You can refine 2 parafinium out of 1 silver + 1 oxygen both rather easily acquired.

Earlier today an almost finished save was converted to Normal so I went back to my first save for Expedition 3 and ran into the 5 per planet limit (didn't on the now broken save) but found a way around that after wasting too much time. I kept moving farther away and eventually reached a point where I can build the Geobay for Pilgrim. I do not know how far away I had to walk but it was way out of the normal normal base diameter.

Am trying to get enough salvaged data that I can have enough blueprints to get this save caught up before completing too many milestones are completed. Completing too many milestones (or possibly too far along in ship repairs) and the important build technology blueprints are no longer available through the Blueprint Analyser.
Hopefully today's 3.66 patch will both:

1) Not take too long to get posted here on GOG.

2) Will fix things up enough for me to decide to [finally] patch up from 3.53_Prisms and get started on the new Expedition and all the Settlement fun.

3) Not be huge. But that is what it is.
898 MB download now loading. Time to go wash the car, mow the lawn, make a Target run. (Well, my internet isn't really quite that slow. ;-)
Frontiers Patch 3.67 notes are now up on the official site:

https://www.nomanssky.com/2021/09/frontiers-patch-3-67/
Glad to see them still coming.

But my Save Beacon is still underground XD

I'm also finding the amount of different building opportunities quite limited. It's often a starship dock or a Market, very rarely something else (like a saloon). There are also quite a few slight variations of these buildings as well, that amount to more of the same.

Overall, the settlements seen nice, but little more than more busy work.

Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying it, but I kinda wish there was more to it.

My save beacon and geobay are both underground. Hopefully this new patch will fix that....I'm about to check. I do like the settlements as well, but would also like more variety. Hopefully that will come in a patch down the road. So far, after five years, they're STILL releasing FREE patches. So, I'm content to wait.
