Fred_VIE: Errr.... I was just about to buy the game but since the key's can not be remapped I wont.
Wait for a -65% off sale, that's what I did...
It's 2.06F already, and still no keybinding issue fix. At the same time they say in support that it's all ok, it working...
They think we are idiots or what? ;(
Key binding was a bit annoying but as WSAD works I am fine thanks,,,,Laurie

I dont care much about the price, what I care about is to map the keys to my liking and as long as it wont allow me to do so I´m not really interested.

It should be standard in the 21st century.

Agreed as that's usually an insta-dealbreaker for me, in particular any FP game, hopefully once it goes down to -65% it will be fixed by then... I hope, but yeah if it's not; fuck' em!

I don't understand why they lie to people, why not to say "we know the problem and we'll fix it ASAP or eventually. WTH, we are loyal customers, after all their shit at the initial launch of the game ;(

I suppose that they want to maintain radio silence and not repeat the mistakes that they have with over-promising during their horrid launch, as it failed spectacularly; it was truly a historic failure after all, but still, a little heads up would be nice.

I'm getting really tired of them not addressing this issue. It's been unplayable for me since 2.0 due to unbindable keys.. several patches later and not a word. It can't be that difficult to fix, surely?

I know there's AutoHotkey and the like but it shouldnt need those kind of work arounds.... urgh. Losing interest!

Exactly. I like NMS so far, and it's realy a great game now, compared to what it was in the beginning, but such attitude ...
Hello

in the version 2.09 solved

cu
Can anyone else confirm that it has been addressed and patched in version 2.09?

2.09 enables kryboard control remapping.

Existing remaps are preserved. Note that keys must be mapped to upper-case letters, which are indicated on the remap screen with a box around the glyph.

Ok, thank you! I think.. So you can't remap keys by just pressing the key you want used? You have hold in the shift-key to map it to a regular key? Say, Shift+E for e? Sounds very confusing. Sorry.

Caps Lock works, too. It is kind of weird. Probably a programmer's oversight. TBH, I only ever had to deal with simple ASCII encoding back when I was developing. Having to handle multiple keyboard maps for an international customer base is probably somewhat challenging.

Also, rereading my comment quoted above, it is a bit confusing. It's only the keyboard remapping function that has to see a capital letter. Once the new key is mapped to the action, lower case keys are recognized as well in-game.

One final gotcha. The control mapping interface uses capital-X as the "delete entry" key because reasons, so it's not possible to map X to any action. Workaround: edit TKGAMESETTINGS.MXML (after making a backup) and change the remap for the indicated action to "KeyX"

Another way to say this is if you have key bindings previously mapped look through each and every tab on the rebinding screen. Any and all keys that are displayed on screen as lower case have to be remapped and using the same key is fine.

For example, I first saw this with the "j" and "b" keys once remapping had been restored in Experimental. I could not perform the assigned functions with either the remapped key or with the default key. I tried to redo some of the keys that were not working and saw that the software displayed the assigned key in uppercase although I had typed in the lowercase. now I could again jump using "j" and land using lower case "L," etc.

Whoever came up with the lunacy of assigning left-shift to sprint should be sentenced to life without parole was the user is already holding "w" down. I use "b" for that as it used to be called "boost."
