It's been a while since I played NMS, as a few dozen hours after launch is more than enough to see what the game has to offer. In an effort to see what the new update has added, I tried launching the game from GOG Galaxy. I removed all mods before doing so, but it refuses to launch. Literally nothing happens when I click Play or try NMS.exe. Verifying the files didn't help, nor did reinstalling the game. The green Play button unpresses itself a few seconds after being pressed, without any other indication at all that the game tried and failed to launch.

Windows 10, latest AMD drivers, Intel i5-3570K, 8GB RAM, HD7990. My CPU & GPU are watercooled & temps are low, just to rule out any overheating issues.

Anyone else having this issue? Pretty infuriating. I have created a GOG support ticket and will update this thread if a solution exists.
Have you tried checking there aren't any old .PAK files in there? My game wouldn't launch as the installer doesn't delete the old pre-Foundation files
Had the same problem, but like bravoman says, it's probably just because of left-over junk from the previous install.

Initially, I just installed over the previous version... that would crash immediately after choosing a game mode. Then I un-installed the old version (telling it to keep my saved games), deleted the left-over Binararies and Gamedata folder which the uninstaller left behind, then re-installed with the new installer. After that, it worked... :)

I did check for old .pak files and didn't spot any. Reinstalling the game should have guaranteed that it wasn't the problem though surely.

Since the 27MB patch today in GOG Galaxy the game is launching for me. But I have a new crippling issue - every time I get in my ship the assistant voice says "shield down" and the game immediately crashes to desktop. It's flippen infuriating.

I will try uninstalling the game, checking for leftover files in the installation directory and reinstalling. It never occurred to me to check that the game actually uninstalled itself. Thanks for the suggestion.

I had the same issue. Glad to see the patch fixed it for you. For me it did not. For me it was related to graphics driver:

I am on MacBook Pro in Bootcamp with Radeon R9 M370x. 1.09 works fine but 1.1 is not supported by the latest driver that Apple or AMD provides. I'm guessing its because of certain new graphics features in 1.1 like motion blur etc.

The game worked after I used this solution to "force" Windows to take the latest driver from AMD.

If you're not on MacBook Pro disregard that, but maybe it hints that it could be a general graphics issue.
GOG wanted to install NMS into an existing NMS folder. Overtop old game files. So, I put in a new path and folder during installer, for my install. I have a similar PC as you. Good luck.
