I landed my spacecraft, and it happened to land in front of a cave system and the nose of my spacecraft below the cave ceiling, so that when I went to launch off the ground, my spaceship was sucked into the cave and it quickly kills your ship because you run into every stalactite on the ceiling of the cave and because I got out of the ship before I took off a restore point was created and I was doomed to repeat the whole event mutilple times seeing if I could turn my ship turned around and get out of the cave without dying. I eventually got out of the cave but I had to repair my ship so it took like 20 minutes to find and build the materials to fix the ship.

Anyhow, you ever land in front of a cave, just do yourself a favour and return to a early restore point, don't get out of your ship.

Yikes!

I wish there was more control over landing. Such as maybe being able to turn your ship totally nose-down so you can see where you are landing. I've had a lot of landings where I didn't quite hit my target and I waste fuel because of it, but fortunately nothing like that.

This is why I hate autosaves without any way to turn them off and just save manually. More consolitus.

It`s not happened to me in this game yet, but I`ve played other games that autosaved, getting stuck on a save with 5% health while trying to beat really tough enemies and being doomed to repeat getting killed over and over trying not to lose the game, but eventually just having to quit.
There are two autosaves at least, which is better than one. But I'd prefer manual save slots, or at least a user-selectable number of save slots for these autosaves.

I've had been on the receiving side of bad autosaves before in other games. I remember in one game, there were branching paths through a building. I like to explore everything I can. So ... stairs, a hallway, and you can go out the window. I figured that the stairs or hallway were most likely to lead me to the next building/room/event, so I went out the window to check for loot on the landing. But when you go out, the window slams shut and the game autosaves. Couldn't explore the stairs or hallway and it pissed me off.

I did this. What I had to do was use my grenade laucher on my multi to just blast a huge part of the landscape out of the way so that I could take off without dying. Took a few trys but it worked.
I had a similar bug, but it was luckily a mineral mountain so I was able to mine myself out of the situation.

I was never able to get out of the cave, because the landing system place me very far inside it, so all I could do was watch myself die, unfortunately it also overwrote my saves so I ended up with the only option of loading the game and dying, then starting over with a broken ship and all of my Waypoints gone.

Imagine that happening where you have thousands of hours and several months invested.

I hate this console shit.
