Sounds really good. Lots of improvements. Thank Crom they added proper low flight. Should be able to land exactly where I want to land now. Hopefully there won't be any weird auto-repositioning where I try to land in a clear area and for whatever reason the game makes me land somewhere else. I'm really looking forward to playing it tonight after work. Quests and Story finally!

The Joint Exploration seems kinda flaccid. What will it look like when those little spheres mine for minerals or attack sentinels? You still can't see the other players which is something I never cared about but was a big part of the huge shitstorm last year as we all know.

I don't want to come off as one of the Haters because I'm not. It's nice that HG threw a bone to the multiplayer fans but this weird Joint Exploration as well as the lack of any third person animations or cosmetic upgrades to Exosuits kind of demonstrates that HG never really intended for other players to see or interact with each other.

Alas, the Joint Exploration will 'currently' not work with the GOG version, according to the release notes, but I guess this will change in future. The low flight is amazing, what I have read in Steam is people already flying in caves :)
Your ship can now get damaged, and if you crash it for the worse you'll have to repair it on planet before you can proceed (release notes).

Nice! I tried a couple low flight & hover mods but one of them absolutely destroyed the feel of flying and the other one resulted in a severe case of auto-repositioning.
Well... Thanks to the new update my game is unplayable. I start in a base in space and when I try to teleport to my base, BOOM the game crashes. Any feedback? Is there a way to uninstalled this and have my game the way it was before? Are you telling me that my whole base is gone? with everything that was in it?

Then is time to UNINSTALL this game!!!

Why is the update forced automatically instead of asking if I want to update?

This is an option in the settings for Galaxy.

If you click on the logo in the top of the left pane (small logo with words "GOG com") then select settings and then the Features tab the first option is to allow automatic updating of games. If it is checked then it updates automatically, if not checked then you keep playing the currently installed version.

To avoid this I leave automatic updating disabled but I also download each and every update so I can always go back to a previous version since GOG is now only allowing download of the latest update, at least for No Man's Sky.

I had the same thing happen when trying to teleport to my base so I manually flew back to it only to discover my lush beautiful world is now an ugly, barren ball of rock and all of the personnel in my base is missing. I did notice that the game is harassing me about hiring an overseer and building a base in the mission log too, as if I don't already have one.

Fortunately I have a backup of the older version of the game and my saves. Hello Games was doing well with the updates until this latest one. I'm sticking with v1.24.

I had a planet that was paradise basically where my base was. Now an acid rain planet. I am also getting the nags about building a base when one is already built. I also noticed there was on the same planet the ability to make another base, so I guess you can have more than one base now on a planet? Maybe that was always the way, but I just noticed it in this update.

I also have been naming my planets and system by the type of planet, like "snow planet brr" or something similar. I guess all of those probably are inaccurate now, which will either amuse or anger or both visitors to those systems if the hazard type has changed.

I do like the flight updates and the mission stuff, so will probably just relocate my base since it wasn't anything hugely special and I noticed that I still have my vehicle.
The Generation section of the Patch Notes states that the galaxy was regenerated and also that bases were repositioned due to terrain changes.

The galaxy regeneration is similar or the same as with the changes in the Foundation Update. The distribution of minerals, flora and fauna were completely changed, presumably due to the new additions as well as changes in the probabilities of generation. Thus planets' flora, fauna, environment, etc., all changed which accounts from going from barren to bountiful or visa versa or anywhere in between.

Based upon comments elsewhere apparently the tasks from the initial base building have to be repeated in order to receive credit for these having been performed for Atlas Rising. Others have reported that blueprints, quests, etc., are basically archived until the specialist terminals are rebuilt, hence re-staffed, and initial tasks are completed (again). It is unclear if having to repeat the tasks was by design of not.

With this large an update i'm surprised the advice to start over with a new game is not being given?

Anyway, anytime i've updated NMS i always start a new game, but it will carry on being confusing for those trying to play their old game, especially if the whole galaxy and planet gen has been changed!

I'm just going to wait for the standalone installer on GOG, as that is the version i prefer, nice sounding update overall, looking forward to it :)

1: world generation changed, they added so many more biomes and a few 1000 parts of things to the generator

2: you can always turn off auto updates, and roll back if needed to a prior save. Auto updates are turned on by default for all galaxy games. I've attached a picture to show location in the game menu to kill auto updates. Jut go to MORE > Settings.

As a note all these settings can be globally disabled in the galaxy option screen, use the GOG galaxy icon in the top left.
