We now have every piece of evidence there ever was in the history of No Man's Sky. We know the patch is coming soon very soon, it's on sale 50% off and all the major sites and some 60% off. I have never been this hyped for an update since the multiplayer update.

This is the five year anniversary update, the big one, and where almost syncing with the anniversary of Star Trek. You can ask for a more perfect culmination of events happening at once.

Are you guys stoked? I can barely handle it!

UPDATE: its live on Steam right now clocking in at 7.4GB

The Steam database has a tracker here which shows the status of updates and patches for the various games, both publicly accessible and also private/locked files. There has been considerable activity in the non-public "internal" NMS fork in the last few days; at least two updates to it today alone. I'd guess the non-public releases are for participants in a closed beta -- but that's just a guess.

There may be an equivalent window into the patch/updates loaded into GoG but I don't know of any.

I agree with He Who Poops Darkmatter that the game going on sale is a significant indicator. Someone (on the NMS subreddit?) mentioned that Tuesdays and Thursdays have often been The Day -- but there isn't a strong correlation.
