When I played it on "beginner" and "experienced" there were no problems.

Now I am playing at "professional" and in chaper 14 "The Chance" the game crashes. It is always exactly at the same moment:
# commando is already in the station and works its way thru
# Stiletto fights the weapon platforms
# when the commando finds "a huge ship" exactly after the word "cargo" the game crashes.

What I have done so far:
1) I played the game installed on ym HD.
2) Then I installed it anew from GOG Galaxy.
3) I used the GOG Galaxy "check/repair" function and turned on the automatic bug report transfer.
4) I played the whole chapter several times... well, tried.
It crashed every time at the same spot.

On "experienced" level I played the whole game thru without problems.

A shame that it crashes on "professional".

Anything else you need to identify the bug?

Ok, not much help here.

But somewhere, to my regret I have forgotten where, I found a good advice or rather a workaround.

As mentioned above, this bug happens only when you play on professional. The mission is in 2 parts: first you have to do a fight with 2 ships, afterwards in the 2nd part you proceed to the station you are ordered to check out. In this 2nd part:
# you can and must use your commando ship
# but do NOT send out your fighter squadrons until your commandos have entered the station, fought their way thru and report that they have found the alien ship.

THEN you may use your fighter squadrons.

Using your fighter squadrons is not absolutely necessary but it helps a lot and would be a smart move but unfortunately this triggers the crash.

I'm having this exact same problem. Though I had a savegame halfway through the mission, I tried recalling my fighters to the ship and kept on going with them docked, but it still crashed. Did you ever figure anything else out? I'd hate to start over, but I guess it's not that much replaying.. be nice if you guys could patch this up!

I'm on Windows 10.

Return to Earth Mission also crashes so I am betting there is something more to whatever bug is causing this.. I cannot get past the Return to Earth mission at all.

BTW, the mission you all are having problems with, I was able to get through it by NOT carrying or using ANY fighters, only the Commandos.

Which Nexus executable are you running? By default it runs nexus_DX9, which can crash on some missions. I found that running nexus_DX8 to get past those in-mission crashes works well. My game was crashing at the end of Sneaking, but running the DX8 executable worked fine. This is while running Windows 10.

Only issue I had with the DX8 executable is opening the menu to save or quit, I found I had to Alt+F4 and then hit Escape, and it somehow loaded the game menu.
