Hi ! I've just bought NWN2, i got a 2 years old PC with a GeForce GTX 460 with the latest drivers and when i try to start the game i got the following message:

"Unable to detect a video card with hardware 3D acceleration. Neverwinter Nights 2 requires a video card that supports then please make sure it is enabled"

What can I do ?

First thing that comes to mind is making sure you have directx 9 runtime installed
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

Lots of old games don't work with just DX10 installed, but should after installing that.
Hi Jarmo, tried to install older version (and last version) of drivers and Directx and it's still not working... I also tried to run with windows XP instead of Vista and it's working either...

Thank for the advice tough ! Do you have any other idea ?
In the error message you are getting, is the word after the word "supports" really "then"? Or did you leave something out? (Or did they really write their error message copy in broken english?)

I ask because there might be a clue, there.

No, after verification it's really written that way. I found some forum post on the old bioware website mentioning that problem but i still can't find a solution. I can play Neverwinter 1 in the meantime but I really what to try this one ! (Sorry for my broken english !)

that is not how DX9 and DX10 work. Any OS capable of DX10 (vista+) comes with DX9 pre-installed.
DX9 and DX10 are seperate the same way the NWN1 and NWN2 can be both installed on the same machine and function separately.

What you are doing is UPGRADING your DX9 to the latest version. Even if you have a DX10 capable OS like windows vista or 7 you should still keep your DX9 version up to date. Upgrading your DX9 version on windows 7 does not downgrade your DX10 installation, the two are completely separate.

That being said, the web installer, even though it is titled DX9 install, will upgrade both DX9 and DX10 files.
