Can't gog do anything about these people, i just find their treatment of Beamdog very unfair.

I mean some Beamdog members are former Bioware members, what's wrong with them working on their own games?

I'm glad someone gives these franchises the love and attention they deserve, and if they can make a little bit of money from that , what's wrong with that.

Btw.: I loved Siege of Dragonspear, can't really understand all the flak it got.
Totally agree with you. The hate if too much. One may disagree with some choices they made, but it's a very good release

Rpg communities are a toxic cesspool these days, it's a shame...

I find Beamdogs treatment of classic RPGs to be really unfair.

They are doing far more harm than good. And "improving" very little, most of which had already been done better by modders.

I'm not particularly invested in Beamdog because I have original copies of all the Bioware games anyway. But the people that take issue with Beamdog aren't trolls. Beamdog does lazy work and prices it unreasonably.

Sadly, not just RPG communities. I mean it also states on the sales page:

"Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition includes the unaltered original version of Neverwinter Nights Diamond (The original version will be automatically added to your account.)"

So you still are getting the original.

I have to disagree with this. I also have original copies of Bioware's games, but I've still purchased the Enhanced Editions. Why? Native Linux support without using GemRB, and (more relevant to NWNEE) no messing about with mods for modern resolutions and graphical enhancements. And the idea of unreasonable prices is entirely subjective. If the prices were objectively unreasonable, the majority of people wouldn't be willing to pay them. And yet Beamdog continues to release them, implying that they've been successful thus far. You can blame this on people being sheep, or whatever other bitter, jaded line of reasoning that you want, but the market has demonstrated that it's willing to sustain these prices.

I'm mostly neutral on Beamdog, personally, but that's my stance towards businesses in general. Beamdog has done some good, in that they've made versions of these games that are accessible to more casual audiences. At the same time, there's some things that they've done with their implementation that I don't really like.

I do agree that the people that are doing the down-voting aren't trolls however. Trolls do what they do just to get a reaction from people, whereas the people that are down-voting NWNEE genuinely think that they are doing the gaming community a favour. The self-righteous fury that these people feel towards this particular company is getting very old though.

On top of the other issues, Beamdog and many GOG members have a bit of a history. There's bad blood because of their actions of trying to cover up stuff during the BGEE days, some of which directly involved GOG, and... yeah, it's a mess.

I don't blame anyone for being mad at Beamdog for their business practices. The anger goes too far here sometimes, but at it's root it's pretty well earned. I would not just go and call everyone who says "no" to this is a troll (though I'd say there are a couple around here for the drama), that's probably what Beamdog wants you to think anyway.

I agree, to a point.

I know of some of the things that they've done, and they were quite shady. I agree that their deceptions have definitely burned some bridges and earned them a bad reputation around here, but review-bombing is not a healthy way of expressing that; the act just comes across as immature.

The content of the bulk of these reviews, however, would indicate that people are upset about the lack of new content and the fact that the DE was removed from the store and relegated to being a bonus for purchasing the EE. The lack of new content is a fair criticism. As a more casual fan of NWN, I haven't yet played multiplayer, so the changes under the hood (scripting changes and removal of certain limitations from what I've gathered) don't really affect me. I have, however, played through the original and expansion campaigns several times. As such, I definitely would have loved some new content added to those campaigns to change things up a bit. That didn't happen, and that is disappointing.

The core game is still sound though. What I was actually after was a version of the game that I didn't have to tinker with in order to get it to run on my modern OS with a modern resolution and proper aspect ratio. That's exactly what I got.

As for the DE being removed, I'm sure it rubs people the wrong way, but both Beamdog and GOG are businesses. They're both out to make money, and if taking the old versions off the store is going to make them more money, then why wouldn't they? While Beamdog was responsible for the debacle surrounding the OG BG being taken down, GOG has been in a position in negotiating for the follow-ups to demand that the OG games be kept up for sale if they so chose. Yet they didn't, because there's more money to be made from the EE games and their higher price tags. People need to understand that GOG isn't a charity, existing solely to catalogue old games and distribute them for dirt cheap. Does it suck that the OG games are relegated to bonus status for EE games? Absolutely, but I understand why they'd do it, and I don't begrudge them for doing so.
I am not a Beamdog fanboy..they have done plenty I am critical of...but this crap is getting ridiculous.
I am now conviced a lot of it is trolling....people who don't give a damn about the games, but just think it's somehow cool and hip to beat up on Beamdog.
Trolls are down voting and fanboys are up voting, up votes tend to mislead people in saying beamdog has added alot of features and fixed alot of bugs while in reality they have not, they added a few filters and enabled multiplayer again, bugs are still aplenty, one example is familiars still losing their weapons randomly.

Down votes seem to be centred on attacking beamdog rather than the game itself, while i'm disappointed in beamdog releasing this game in the state its in now while asking for more money i dont think it deserves all the down votes its getting, as the reality is, neverwinter nights is now back in active development and thats a great thing.

I personally think beamdog will eventually make this game great, as they have with all their other enhanced edition games, but they released way too early with almost nothing to show while increasing the price.

This! Totally agree!
Look guys, Calm Down. If you want to trash games, go to steam to do it, that is pretty much what everyone does there now when they arn't playing games.

NWN deserves some TLC. It has been a while. It was an Amazing game to begin with, Now it has MORE ! ! ! !

Lets give it a chance before anyone trashes it like AGONY. NWN EE didn't cheat people, so lets be fair ^^
There's nothing happening that Beamdog didn't bring down on themselves. Part of a games UXP is dealing with the publisher, and Beamdog DOES suck.

That said, I'd be inclined to remind you that while Bioware was AWESOME (back before they sold out to EA) NWN users always had to deal with Atari. Dealing with NWN publishers was never problem free. Atari sucked in ways that Beamdog can only dream of.

Beamdog notwithstanding, NWN is still an awesome game. A few crap scores from a few disgruntled trolls isn't going to change that, nor is it going to stop Beamdog from sucking.

I'm just glad that NWN is being kept alive. If that means dealing with an awful company like Beamdog and a few rank spammers, I'll take the bad with the good.
I agree, the trolling has gotten out of hand.
I´m not trying to be a Beamdog fanboy, but the´re simply THE ONLY GAME DEVS IN TOWN who just go and take the decrepit old but awesome games and simply MODERNIZE them.
Up till now just EVERY franchize revival I care about has been a complete sh!tsh*w.
UFO, Orion, both "streamlined" and left dead&abandoned with ugly persistant bugs.

Watching the Vlogs on beamdog has really given me hope that THIS time somebody is doing it right.
So far I like what they did to the old EE games, still weary about the SJW crap in the Dragonspear thing though.
Getting it maybe on a 75% trashsale, to finally make up my own mind about it.

If you love Siege you didn't pay attention to the story in BG2. Siege contradicts it all over the place.
