A few months I installed the NWN 1, but it ran a bit slow. Is there a configuration I can use to play the game smoothly on my laptop?

My laptop:
Genuine Intel CPU T2130 @ 1.86GHz
2,7GB RAM
SiS Mirage 3 Graphics card

I think your GPU is too weak.

NWN 1 or NWN 2? NWN1 uses OpenGL, while NWN2 uses DirectX for graphics.

There are always options to make a game using less resources. Go to your graphics driver panel and disable all the fancy enhancements like Anti-Aliasing etc.
Try playing the game in a lower resolution (e.g. 800x600)
In-game, reduce all graphic intensive effects to a minimum. E.g. for NWN1
- Set the "Overall graphics quality" slider to "fast"
- Texture quality => "16 meg"
- Uncheck "Enable sky boxes"
- Uncheck "Enable environment shadows"
- Set "Creature shadow detail" to lowest

If the game runs smooth enough, you could try reactivating those options you would like to have most and check the hit on performance. As triock pointed out, the SiS graphics chip is rather weak, so you'll might have to experiment a bit to find the best setup for your system.

Also try disabling all 3D sound effects in-game, to further reduce CPU load.

Sorry I forgot this is a shared forum. I'm talking about Neverwinter Nights 1 I guess the problem is OpenGL, I was trying to run Half-Life and it was a bit slow too, when I changed the graphics from OpenGL to Software, it solved the issue. But then again different game engines, different rules.

It almost certainly *is* the problem - SIS have never been noted for graphics performance and the Mirage 3 doesn't look to be any better.

The quoted benchmark figures are pretty hideous. A 2001-vintage GeForce2Go (one of the first gaming graphics chips for notebooks) runs almost twice as fast with 3DMark2001. With performance like that, the OP is lucky to be able to run NWN1 at all.

SIS's graphics division went on to form XGI, most notorious for their Volari card and the "heavy optimizations" its drivers used in games and benchmarks. That review is worth a read to see how low some graphics manufacturers will stoop to hide an inadequate product.

1.Did you patch to version 1.69 with the Critical Rebuild update?

2. Did you TURN OFF SHINY WATER? You'd be amazed how often this little option is the culprit of graphics errors.

3. Are you running NWN in compatibility mode as an administrator?

I installed the latest version available on GOG.
Can't remember on those. But would that have influenced the game on the starting area?

I have Windows XP

So do I. The same conflicts can occur as with the newer OS's, just not as many. Vista/Win7/Win8 just have more problems running NWN mainly because the video cards (i.e. drivers) that are typically furnished with the latest rigs do not support OpenGL. All the hardware-type issues are addressed or linked within that topic.

The only caveat to it is that at the time the topic was discussed, the GoG version was still new and the default patch furnished by GoG seemed to work well enough. However, eventually some problems were noticed in performance by other GoG purchasers, and the Critical Rebuild for Diamond seems to remedy most of those.

This. On my desktop machine (Win8), I'm having the same problem with NWN1 (not 2!). All modules are running pretty slowly. I have the same problem with Divine Divinity, incidentally. I was advised that both games don't take well to multiple processors, but fixing that didn't solve the problem. Both are also 32bit processes, is that the root of the problem?
