I have had this same exact issue happen twice now, within a weeks time frame. My save file seems to just delete itself and all graphical settings reset like i just installed the game for the first time. My computer didnt crash or anything, did I get screwed buying this from GOG?

Which Game?

NWN:DE
NWN:EE
NWN2

I have had NWN 1 (later DE version) installed since it came out in 2002, and I have GoG version of it, and GoG NWN2 both installed and used for years and it never deleted any save file. That in a couple hundred hours of NWN2, and well over a thousand hours of NWN on multiple computers and OS from Windows 98 to Windows 7.

The one thing that seems to cause some issues, for some people, is using GoG galaxy to start games and/or using "cloud save" feature that GoG tacked on. Use that at your own risk.

I don't have GoG galaxy installed on my computer at all.

its on NW2, I do use gog galaxy to launch it, are you saying that is the definitive problem?
No, it's not sure that Galaxy causes your problems but it is a possibility worth exploring.
-game updates could cause the ini files to be overwritten
-a weak internet connection could prevent you from accessing cloud-saved save or ini files

and most importantly these old games were not intended for cloud saving, so maybe there is a problem with the scripts handling the cloud interaction.

I haven't played as much NWN as PeterScott but I have done my fair share of both games and never lost save or ini files unless I deleted them on purpose.

definitely no weak net connection, how do i install the game off of galaxy then?
Galaxy/Cloud saves definitely seemed to cause some issues with NWN:DE.

But I don't think NWN2 has cloud saves, so it should be much less of an issue.

For NWN2 saves are in your "username"/Mydocuments directory.

So beware if you login with different usernames, normal username and admin, then you will have multiple save directories that you are switching between when you change users.
