While playing NWN2 I was using the KL_MetaPrepa.
It just goes in your overide directory, is there something similar for NWN1?
All I could find is the Rod of Fast Buffing, which sounds like it would be alright if I could figure out how to install it.
The instuctions are written for people fluent in NWN mod speak, who probably don't need instructions.

Only thing I know of is the Rod of Fast buffing. But it should be easy enough for you to install it. Just grab the fastcastrodmod.zip from This Page (it's the last link in the list of three). Extract the .mod file into your modules folder. Put the rodfastcast.uti and rodfastcast.ncs files into your override folder. When you want to get the rod for use with one of your characters, just export that character and then fire up the fastcastrodmod, selcting that character to use in the module. Grab the rod, then export the character again. Then use that character in the module you want to play.

If you're looking to get the rod for a character that's currently part way through a module, you can follow the instructions in the readme:

If you want to give this to a character currently running in a module load the game as a multiplayer game, then save the game and also save the character. Then exit out and start a new game selecting the included .mod file (fastcastrodmod.mod). It is just a single room with a chest that includes a rod. Grab the rod and then save your character. Then load up your previous save game in multiplayer mode. You should get an option to use the saved character or one from the local vault. Select the local vault check box and choose the latest version of that character. Then save the game again, quit out and load in single player.

You should have the rod still. The rod will stay with the character.

You will have to re-prime the rod every time you start a new module.

Hope that helps. :)

That's the one I got.
Unfortunately it doesn't contain a .mod, .uti, or .ncs.
Just an .erf
And a readme that gives you a site to go to & search for information on how to set up "Tagged based Scripting"
doing that takes you to spam about crap audio equipment.

It goes on to say, put the .erf file in you erf directory under your NWN installation.
Which I don't have. Do I just create a new directory & call it erf?
Then, Open your module and import rodfastcast.erf.
I have no idea how to do that.

Dammit. Forum ate my post. On that page I linked, under the 'Files' category, there are three files you can DL (bloody page keeps mixing up the order of them on me):

extrodfastcast.zip
fastcastrodmod.zip
fastcastrod.zip

You want the bolded one. In that zip file there is a .mod file, rodfastcast.uti and rodfastcast.ncs, and a readme (I know they're there because I DLed the file and checked it). Just follow the procedure I outlined in my first post and you should be good to go. Post back if you have any issues.
Thanks Mate, I downloaded the other two, isn't it always the way.

lol - been there a few times!
Well I installed it, but setting up an online account seems like more work than the mod is worth, so I'll have it there if I start a new game.
Thanks for your help.
What kind of a masochist would make an extrodfastcast, a fastcastrodmod, and a fastcastrod and then try to keep them straight?
Well I tried starting a new game, but the rod is not there.
Do I have to use a console command to get it?

Nevermind, I re-read your first post, you've still got to do all the export import, saving character stuff even for a new character.

NWN 1 must be much harder to write mods for than NWN 2.

So I started a new game of SoU & I have the rod, but I can't get it to work.

It says " To prime the rod, one needs to cast any & all spells he wishes to cast onto the rod."

Any spells I cast on the rod (ie resistance, bless) I get.
*Failure-Object is not a valid target for this spell*

If I ignore that & rest to get my spells back, & then use the rod, I get
"Attempting to fast cast 0 spells"

Is this rod meant for buffing spells or not?

Yeah, that's exactly what it's meant for. You remembered to put the two files (rodfastcast.uti and rodfastcast.ncs) in your override folder?

Yes.
Apparently you have to change the original games to .mod or something so you can enable tagged based scripting.
but the link to exactly what you do on the bioware forum only goes to biowares homepage now.

I gave up & uninstalled it, it has already cost me much more time than all the buffing I will ever do in this game.

If that's all you need to do (change the original campaigns to .mod extensions), then it's pretty simple: they're in the nwm folder with a .nwm extension. Just copy, paste into the modules folder, and rename the extension.

If there's more to it, then I'm not sure how to go about it.

Too bad it was such a pain in the ass. I played on a server for a long time that had the Rod of Fast Buffing enabled (it was all done server-side though), so I know how useful it can be. But if something takes up so much time to get working, it's too much bother.
