Okay so I recently installed NWN Diamond and got ready to play. So here is what gets me. The game is in 800x600 mode. The game goes to the main menu and the buttons work as intended. I am able to click on New Game choose the campaign etc. Now heres where it gets interesting. As soon as it loads the module to create a new character the game goes brain dead. I uploaded a photo from google from NWN Diamond to give you an idea of what I am experiencing. If you cant read the text on the 2nd photo it says " I can click here just fine and on the following page. The problem starts only after the campaign is selected and the module loads" essentially for the character creation does this start.

Update: Sorry I was still fiddling with it and came to realize it isnt the resolution. Once the module is loaded, the game becomes unbearably slow. Like if I was to click on a tab it would take 5-10 seconds for the game to realize I had clicked on that tab.

Im running Windows 10
Intel Pentium (R) CPU B940 @2.00Ghz 2.00Ghz
Intel HD Graphics card circa 2012
4 GB RAM

A few ideas...

First, this might be caused by having a screen DPI scaling larger than 100%. Try this:

1. Right-click your desktop.
2. Select "Screen resolution".
3. Click "Make text and other items larger or smaller".
4. Click "Smaller - 100%".
5. Click Apply.

Also, when in-game, make sure you're using a mouse or trackpad, not a touch-screen.

You could try playing in a window (press ALT+ENTER).

Finally, try changing the game's resolution to the native resolution of your monitor (unless your monitor really is 800x600).

There seems to be a lot of issues playing this on using Intel integrated HD graphics (iGPU).

That means laptops that don't have a GPU chip, and just use the graphics inside the CPU chip, which aren't very good.

It seems like some people are able to tweak this to get it minimally acceptable. I don't have such a setup so I can't try it.

Maybe post a new thread with a title like:

"How to Improve NWN1 Performance on Laptop with Intel Integrated HD graphics?"

That might attract the notice of people who got it to work.
