It's a niche rarely filled well in gaming, as those few games that run with it or allow it as a second branch tend to go the KotoR route of paragon of virtue or baby eating lunatic. I'm wondering if NWN or NWN2 has any modules well suited to smart evil instead of stupid evil. Ones that don't just have you doing awful stuff, but run with atmosphere to make you feel like the villain.

I remember way back in the day I played a module, I think it was called Necromancer, that I quite liked (NWN1). And it had a better feel to it than most. I may end up replaying that, and hoping they finally made part 2. But it's been ages so the community may have much better recommendations. I wanted to check.
I played one, but can't recall the name right now. If memory serves, you were required to have Blackguard levels though. If I can figure out what it was, I'll post back.

*edit* Hmmm, it may be the Blackguard trilogy, although I'm not convinced that was it. You can find the first part Here.

Path of Evil for NWN 2 fits that description pretty well.
I had a lot of fun with an evil character in Baldecaran's NWN 1 module "honor among thieves." But as the name suggests, my character was mostly robbing and assassinating for the thieves' guild, and betraying just about every faction in the game. Materialistic evil rather than sadistic stuff, which I prefer. And there are a lot of opportunities to be clever.

The module can be played with a good(ish) or neutral character too, and there are some options for heroics, but evil ones are definitely spoilt for choice.

Admittedly, this is one of my favourite modules anyway so I tend to recommend it a lot.
