I have NeverWinter Nights Diamond downloaded and ready to install. In the extras section there is a "Premuim Modules Installer" 172Mb.

Can someone tell me what this does?

Also given my specs, can I hope for 1920 x 1080 res without mods? I don't expect to, but am wondering.

Win 7
Intel I7 - 4790 3.6 ghz
Nvidia GeForce 1050 Ti
8 GB Ram

Modules are extra adventures for you to play. The Premium modules were officially endorsed (and, this many years later, they have significant polish, including many excellent spoken dialogues with good character voice acting).
The game runs on an integrated graphics system, so you will have no problems running 1080p resolution. I am unsure if this is default, though, so you'll just have to install it and find out! :P

So I guess I would need to install the premium mods installer and then find some custom scenarios to download and install through it? So the installer is a way to confirm that the custom scenarios have the integrity to run correctly?

In any event, not required to run the three campaigns that come with NWN Diamond?

No, premium modules installer does what it says - it installs premium modules. They are included in the installer.

If you want to add even more modules, you can do it by downloading .mod files (for example from https://neverwintervault.org/) or you can create them by yourself with use of the Aurora Toolset.

So if I D/L and install that I will have more choices to select from the main splash screen? I am thinking here on the basis that the premium modules are extra scenarios / campaigns made / suported by the devs as opposed to custom fan made scenarios?

Correct. It could be named as well as "Scenarios Pack" or "Campaigns Add-on", etc.

This is how it is. "Premium Modules" is the name used to describe modules made by the game developers. They could have been purchased (modules, not developers :P ) after the game was released. After some time they were made available for free.

Actually I think the premium modules are installed by default in the normal installation.

That download is called the "Premium Module re-installer", so it is probably there if you screwup your premium modules somehow, you can get them back without doing a full install.

Attempt to start a new game in NWN, select "Premium Modules".

Kingmaker, ShadwGuard, and Witch's Wake, are the ones you get with NWN Diamond.

I am betting they are installed and working.

Then the re-installer will do nothing.
