i agree that maybe i would consider buy it, but actually is not that worthy except for fans.
Wyvern Crown of Cormyr is maybe good but pirates of the Sword Coast is short and Infinite Dungeons doesn't add much.

I would like to bring the attention to other modules that would be premium but somewhere the thing broke, so they are free.
I'm talking about Darkness over Daggerford (by Ossian Studios (the ones who made Mysteries of Westgate expansionfor NWN2)) - its big and its exceptionally well made and AL series (siege of Shadowdale,crimson tide of Tethyr, tyrants of Moonsea,the blades of Netheril)
There's more out there, one can find and play Eye of Beholder or Pool of Radiance as NWN module!

There has already be a *ton* of discussion about other modules, believe it or not. MNost of them you mentioned have been talked about in other threads. Things spread fast in this here forum, heh.

I'd love to buy the other Premium Modules. Without any DRM.. Let GOG sell them us free. I didn't say "for free", but I like presents.

I have to say, if I didn't have access to the premium modules any longer, or could get a version that didn't phone home as those from the Bioware store do, then I would certainly pay $10 for the three not included in the diamond edition. I enjoyed all three, especially PotSC and WCoC. Those two modules I've played more times than probably any other in NWN.

I would agree that many of the community made modules are as good or better than the premium modules. I have yet to finish DoD, but enjoyed what I played of it. The only reason I've yet to it is because I built a new computer and didn't copy the saves. I still want to get around to the AL series as well (of which Tyrants of the Moon Sea was a canceled premium module). As deejrandom said, there are other discussions going on about the community made modules.

To sort out the rights to these modules seems to be extraordinary complicated. Apparently there is a lawsuit involved, and Atari cannot even offer them for download for people who previously bought them from them. From reports in the Bioware forums it seems Atari have been responding to requests for a solution with a blanket "We are working on it" statement for years. I do not understood why these three expansion modules are so severely affected by the lawsuit, when the main game is not.

However, given the negotiations GOG have pulled off in the past, I am willing to hope that they can work miracles. A company that gives some economical incentives may have an easier time getting to talk to the right people.

I could be wrong, but I believe that if you bought the games previously you are still able to play them; you just can't purchase them any longer. Your CD keys should still be available on the old site.

so, does the version of kingmaker included with GOG still dials home every time you run, load a save, etc? because that would seem to violate the "no DRM" policy of GOG.

if we buy this from GOG, can we install and play the premium modules we already bought that aren't included here?

At least they haven't turned off the servers, I can authenticate my premium modules as of today (11-1-2010). I was never comfortable with that method though, and I bet they will shut down the servers.

As far as I know, the CD release 'kingmaker' that included the modules Kingmaker, ShadowGuard, and Witch's Wake never called home. There may have been a CD check (I don't remember) that later was patched out. I think the same goes for for the version included in NWN diamond edition.

The 'you can only play if I can call home'-DRM is one of the stupidest DRM constructions ever conceived, and it was met with a lot of complaints in the forums. I never understood why they choose something like that for minor expansions for a 2-3 year old game that thrived on a very supportive user community who likely would have been just as happy to pay for these expansions even if they had been released without DRM (and probably even more so).

As old as this topic is, I'd also like to post and say that I would also very much like to buy the three abandoned expansions. I hope that GOG is trying to negotiate a deal with Bioware and Atari, but I doubt that is the case.

Just realised that as an upshot of this hacking attempt, they have taken their NWN verification servers offline, which means that the premium modules can now be downloaded and installed/played for free! Atari had for the last 18 months or so blocked new sales, but now it seems that unless a new verification server is put up, these are now FTP!

I've installed them and verified they work, would be great if someone else could do the same. Of note is that when launched they do attempt to contact the verification server, but that fails and the game launches. Would be interesting to see if these work even when offline.. I can't test that right now as I'm at work.

If you downloaded diamond edition from GOG you already have Kingmaker, Witches Wake (which BTW is AWESOME, but it's only a demo and was never completed so don't get too hooked into it), and and ShadowGuard. I included the links for Rawgr and folks lik him who may have older editions of the game.

I just finished WCoC. Great mod, very innovative, but buggy. Save frequently and don't get too bent out of shape when things go bad. I even had to reboot my computer once when a waypoint drifted off the walkmesh.

I'm playing PotSC now. So far it seems like fun. Good story. Neverwinter has some unreasonably powerful gangsters in it, but I'll forgive that for now.

I've actually bought Kingmaker/Witches wake/something in a box and the diamond edition from gog.
Played witches wake until it said I'd need to buy it too or licence or something. Was so disappointed I never tried the others.

Never bought any of the downloadables either, because of the licencing-activation-crap.

Kingmaker was some good stuff!

Stay out of Witch's Wake, though. Or you'll spend a bit of time sorely irritated with a cliffhanging part 1 of a premium series that never got finish. Grrr.
