Petrell: ATARI owns exlusive license to making and selling AD&D/Dungeons&Dragons based video games so no video games based on those frachises can made or sold without ATARI's authorization.
Yes I know. I just wonder why Atari won't give up these unavailable premium modules that they aren't selling anymore. I'm vaguely aware of the drama between Hasbro and Atari, but it seems like they would have nothing to lose, and even stand to gain a little by letting GOG distribute these along with the rest of NWN.
Before I buy this to replace my CD's, can anyone confirm that I can install my premium modules (I own them from years ago and just want to make sure they will interface with the GOG version on NWN)

The premium modules were tied to the CD key on the account they were purchased. My guess is that if you entered your old cd keys with the gog version (if it is possible) you would be able to play them.

I have all the premium modules myself, haven't tried playing them in a few years. Are the servers they called home to still up?

Yep, I can still play them with my CD version. Just tried it. They Authenticate just fine. I want to pick up the GOG version so that I can ditch my CD's, but I want to make sure my Premium Mods will work with it first. Otherwise I have to keep the CD's and then what is the point. I thought WCOC was pretty good, so I want to keep it working. :-)
So this is just a theory, one I will likely try but probably not before the weekend. It looks like for multiplayer you need a unique key as discussed here:

http://www.gog.com/en/forum/neverwinter_nights_diamond/multiplayer

After doing this the included modules need updated to match the key you enter, this is done like so:

http://www.gog.com/en/support/neverwinter_nights_diamond_edition/online_play_in_neverwinter_nights_diamond

My theory is you change the keys to your old CD keys and you should be able to play the other premium modules. If I get around to re-purchasing this version over the weekend I'll respond whether or not I have luck with this.

jwdiemer: So, since they aren't for sale, or official download anymore, are they considered abandonware? As in, if one of us happens to have working copies of them and uploaded them to a file sharing site, that hypothetical person could post the link here without getting in trouble or offending any of the companies we love?
Well Abandonware is not a real legal thing. It's just a term used to describe software the owners of no longer defend their rights to. So the only way to know if something is abandonware is to start trying to distribute it illegally, and if they don't try to stop you it's abandonware.

jwdiemer: True wnough. Then I'll just say this, I found working links in a post on the bioware forums to the 3 unsupported modules.
Ok, here are official download links from Bioware's site:

http://content.bioware.com/neverwinternights/modules_premium/PiratesOfTheSwordCoast_Installer.exe

http://files.bioware.com/neverwinternights/modules_premium/InfiniteDungeons_Installer.exe

http://files.bioware.com/neverwinternights/modules_premium/WyvernCrown_Installer.exe

If you have previously purchased these, they will definitely run.
Thanks for this information :)

I had previously purchased those modules and didn't have a back up of the installers when BioWare had to pull them down. It's nice having access to content I paid for :/
I'd pay for GOG versions of the remaining premium modules.
Not a whole lot, but a bit.

Between five and ten bucks?

Yup, I'd certainly pay that to get the last three modules.
This^^, I own the gold edition and would love to finally be able to check out the premium modules, paying 10$ for a kingmaker alone is that tad bit too much seeing that its price went...up..so to speak from my perspective. If the good folks at gog see a way to make this one available as stand alone, Id definitely drop a 5er.
I actually already own most of the premium modules but I would be willing to pay a bit, maybe up to $10 to be able to use them again.

Yah me too. Or have them add them free as a bonus :)

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
I once bought all six premium modules on BioWare's previous online store, only to lose access to them when the new store was implemented.

I have, happily, bought this game in various releases more times than I can count. I have talked others into buying it. However, for the premium modules I was appalled by the stupid call-home DRM and just outright refused to support that. I bought the Kingmaker disk, but the last three premium modules I am still missing. I get angry just thinking about it.

Ever since I found GOG I have hoped for NWN + all the premium modules without DRM. I promise you, the *minute* you release these modules DRM-free I will happily hand over my cash for another license of NWN. PLEASE make this happen.
