Well, maybe I miss something and would like others to clarify the dark spots.
All things here are about the Linux port of NWN:EE.

1) "on Linux still with version 78.8186.1" ???
On 30th July 2020 I installed 80_8193_13_38276 on Linux.
Few hours ago I found (by chance - see next point) the new
version 81_8193_16_41300.
So how can anyone see 78.8186.1 in Sep. 2020?
[Assuming that all Linux users use the Games topic under the logged in user,
i.e. offline installation download - not the DRM GOG Galaxy client.]

2) Some days later on Linux is not that bad - the fastest OS which
`nearly' never crashes by itself makes it easy to work it out really fast. ;)
But I looked for it after the announcement and found nothing.
I still got no info about updates (no number above or blue dot next
to the game tile title) on the library page (offline installer) - but
now it is there - but still not presented as Update.
I think that this is a real problem if happening frequently - with several hundred games
to look for updates it would be a mess ...
Has anyone else experienced that kind of trouble?

3) I am still angry about not having fullscreen mode.
As all (even badly written) games have fullscreen/window toggle (all Unity games and also
those special game engines of some developers) - even DOS-Box,
I would not call the Linux port beta - it is only alpha.
Any information available if Beamdog is working on it?
I just spotted now under UI options that resolution is 3840x2101 for 4k.
Can one be sure that everything is displayed now?
The fonts are readable, but still tiny (on an 31.5" 4k screen ...) - I have
not experienced this with other games ... what are they doing or is there
something I have to change in options (while all other games does the
right thing automatically)?
As NWN:EE was released 2018 (I am working with 4k since March 2015) and
that bug [missing fullscreen] was noticed directly and it was even announced as fixed
(by fullscreen standard - no window mode) and then revoked ... I thought code must
be reworked in a huge way to run on current HW.
But now they are playing with lighting while the game experience is worse
than with DOS games under DOS-Box?
Am I missing something or do they really have problems to prioritize in a sane way?

4) My impression is that the new lighting is better - but that now the appearance
is inconsistent ... so all 3D models should be changed ...
Would like to hear if others find it smooth and still fitting to this game.

Thanks in advance for any experience concerning the four points here - would be interesting
if I am alone in those findings or even missed options to correct for the problems - or at least
know that I am not alone and should try to reach out for Beamdog to get an explanation or
some help/workarounds for reasonable resolutions (will be funny when 8k will come ...
would have expected to be already there ... as DP 2.0 was said to be available end of 2020 -
But it's not Christmas yet ;).

wiiseeyou: Do I have to uninstall the old version first? Or will the installer override the old files?
Yes, you have to uninstall it unfortunately. Just be sure not to delete your saves by choosing the wrong option during the uninstall process. :)

mcphail: The new version is there now. I agree that it is annoying to be the last in the queue.

wiiseeyou: But then again, that is a consequence you probably should have expected when installing Linux.
It's like getting mad when a book at the library is out and you'll have to reserve it for the future. I like free books, so for me the waiting is acceptable for not having to pay for reading.
Oddly enough, I paid exactly the same price for the Linux version which is listed as being fully supported. I don't think it is unreasonable to expect the same support as my friends on Windows.

JMB9: 3) I am still angry about not having fullscreen mode
Fullscreen mode is there, but you have to enable it by editing the configuration file.

Thanks for the reply.

I changed a lot of games to make them playable (providing libs, changing config files and rights etc.),
but if you hint to
   ~/.local/share/Neverwinter\ Nights/settings.tml
you may have to give some inside info ... as `mode = "windowed"' and `borderless = false' together
with no option to really go to fullscreen mode looks like that is not intended on purpose.
So `enabling fullscreen' seems to be not changing one single line only but a lot more ... just a guess,
of cause.

The Fullscreen Mode was implemented by Beamdog after early bug reports in a way to force it,
i.e. no longer able to use a windowed mode. And this was revoked due to severe trouble ...
So I would not expect the games incl. all DLCs to work when doing such changes.

As you mentioned above - one should expect full support under Linux - and that means
   x no mods or
   x tweaking of config files
(which I may do ... if it seems reasonable - and after that I would call the developers/support
why this would not be the default or at least an option).

Clarification of how to change and if it would still be playable are very welcome.

But what I see right now is that Beamdog takes care for mere eye candy while the base engine
is not `release ready' in any way but in pre-beta state.
I don't see any equivalent for spending money as even DOS-Box games are running better
on a standard 4k screen under Linux than NWN:EE does - and this IS a shame.

And not working on tiny fonts and toggle fullscreen/windowed modes but playing with lighting speaks aloud.

Sarafan: It's the biggest update in history of NWN EE. :) The biggest improvement is the new lighting engine. The game really looks better now! Also the water effects are updated and lots of other things. Check the patch notes here: https://www.beamdog.com/news/patch-819315-neverwinter-nights-enhanced-edition/.
