I hope this will help. on your computer C/Progam files x86/GOG Galaxy/Games/Neverwinter Nights EE/Bin/win32/NWMAIN
The desktop shortcut should go there. nwmain is the launcher for the game
I have the same issue, and unfortunately launching the game directly does not help, either by GOG Galaxy, any of the links in the game directory, or running the binary directly. The last options give an error message, which I attach

It's happening for some time, maybe one of the patches broke something?

Anyone has a similiar issue on Windows 10 x64?

Try Galaxy Launch page More/Manage Installation/Verify
Same situation here. Tried launching the game in Galaxy an by launching nwnmain.exe directly, Manage/Verify installation (everything is ok it seems) and even uninstall/reinstall, so far nothing works.

Seems the last patch broke something, last time I played was about a month ago and everything worked just fine.

Then I arrive with your salvation!
Reinstall this - http://files.gog.com/support/oalinst.zip
And the both packages under this link https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads?
And then, if it still does not work, use the repair option for the game in GOG Galaxy.

Worked for me <3

It worked! Many, many thanks!

I just installed the first link, and the x64 redistributable for Visual Studio 2019, those two did the trick for me. Could it be the new patch got rid of some essential files?

Highly possible. Let's keep that in mind once the newer patch comes in. It's supposed to fix A LOT of things, so probably could break an extra few ;)

Play safe mate!

Didn't work for me. Does GOG not have beta testers to test something as basic as this. This is F'ing Crap!!!

I tried to replace oalinst.exe but nothing happens. About the microsoft downloads I don't understand exactly what to download. I tried also a verify in the galaxy client. (I have Visual studio latest already installed). May be an older download?

Thanks very much, installing oalinst (running the unzipped exe) and the first visual c package allowed game to start.

I agree with the criticism that this game was just on sale, it should be ready to run under Windows 10!

Thanks!

Just reinstalling the OpenAl.exe didn't work for me

BUT

1. Delete your current OpenAl from your harddrive
2. Restart Computer
3. Install new OpenAl version from their official website (google it)
4. Restart Computer

worked for me. The thing is, that you have to DELETE your current version of OpenAl from your harddrive before reinstalling the new one (See my attachment). I tried everything and it only worked after i did it this way.

None of these have worked for me. This happened to me about a month ago. Still waiting on GOG to get back to me on it. Very frustrating.
