I'm currently experimenting with hosting a neverwinter nights server on a VPS so I can go adventuring with some friends. I'm struggling with the lack of documentation. I was wondering what is the purpose of the admin password? I can log in as a player with the player password, or as a DM with the DM password, but can't see any way to log in as an administrator with the admin password. I was hoping this would give me access as a player with the added benefits of being able to trigger saves on the server etc, but am I hoping for too much?
Had been more than one decade since I used the servers but I think the Admin mean the server administrator account. That is, the password to be able to stop the game at all or change the ports to use and similar stuff.

That's what I thought, too. But I cannot see any way I could access such functionality, and nowhere to type in the password.

Back when it was still in its prime, there was a tool for NWN that would let you more or less "remotely administer" a nwserver running on another machine or network. It was the same interface of the actual server program, but it pointed to another machine. It was common back then to dedicate a computer to running the server 24/7, and this was a way to monitor the server without having to actually go to the server machine.

Ah. Thanks. Would be good to still have a tool like that to spare me having to SSH into the VPS to save games etc. Even better if it was integrated into the client. I can only hope for the future :)
Puuh, I use only cheap windows vps so I am not really sure if the issues would be the same, but I think that you should ask the service center about the possibility to have the remote control when working on another network (as I remember, we used this feature many times for some orders, and never had any problems). You could contact the company, or try to set it by yourself idk, depends on the provider. Maybe they already enabled the possibility to integrate it directly to the client? Have you requested an update? By the way, which games are you talking about? :) just curious whats-up on the market
