Whenever I load up Neverwinter Nights 2, it seems to be stuck in the 1024 x 768 resolution. If I go into Options, the box where I should be able to click on a different resolution is completely empty.

This seems to be a common problem, but I have tried both of the commonly suggested solutions to no avail. I tried edited both the nwn.ini and the nwn2.ini files to the resolution I want (1920x1080), but it's like the game doesn't acknowledge any changes I make within the .ini files. I also tried using the in game option to change from Fullscreen to Windowed, but the screen resolution box remains empty. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game; I'm kind of at my wit's end, here.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide any possible alternative solutions or other advice.

I am having a similar issue. Where as I have the option to change my resolution, if I deviate from the default 1024 x 768, the screen collapses into a smaller black box and will either self close, or I'll have to manually exit the game.

Help?

Your problem might be easier to fix than RadasNoir's, In game hold down Alt and press Enter to change into windowed mode, make the changes and then Alt and Enter back to Fullscreen, you should be right after that.

Have your found an answer to you problem with the missing resolution? I have the same problem - nothing to select, nothing works (ini files, windowed)

I somehow fixed it - press alt+Ctrl+f11 after changing the inis did the trick. Still no selection possibilities but it uses now windows default resolution.

olnorton: Your problem might be easier to fix than RadasNoir's, In game hold down Alt and press Enter to change into windowed mode, make the changes and then Alt and Enter back to Fullscreen, you should be right after that.
Same issue after installing in a a new system, resolution was stuck in 1024x768, but olnorton's solution worked for me.

Alt+Enter for windowed mode, then checked the full screen option on the bottom right, and then changed resolution to 1920x1080. Apply, and it works great now, even using Alt-Tab.

I've done exactly this and changed the res to 1920x1080 in the nwn2.ini but the resolution box options remain blank. Anyone have any other ideas or fixes?

If your playing on a laptop, sometimes changing the refresh rate in the .ini from 60 to 59 helps.

I have a different problem. Just recently got a new PC with an NVidia GeForce RTX 3080, and when i try to change the graphics settings on the game, everything I do just seems to cause it to crash. I tried Highest res possible (1920x1080), and a couple of others to see if that made a difference. The auto-detect doesn't do anything, either. I don't want to be stuck trying to play it on 1024x768. Any ideas?

Did you press Alt and Enter to go into windowed mode before trying to change the resolution?
