Taro94: From a builder's perspective alone (that is, mine): area instancing and being able to tag effects and get them by tags alone are some incredibly useful functions and FAR from superficial.
Builders should realize that by using Beamdog changes, shrinks their audience to negligible.
Beamdog doesn't increase your audience, it drastically shrinks it.
From a server administrator's perspective, having players preload hak-paks before logging in (without risking some of them not using NWNCX and plugins required to achieve the same effect in 1.69) and having again the more secure method of player authentication in the form of a new master server are again features FAR from superficial.
Same issue here. Any server that switches to Beamdog, loses its userbase, and is dead.
From a player's perspective, having the game optimized for new systems, bugs fixed, premium modules available for purchase again (yes, you could play them in 1.69 with the use of my authenticator generator tool, but it wasn't entirely legal) are again features not at all superficial. In spite of my best efforts, I could never make NWN behave the way I'd like it to, with often start-up crashes and alt-tabbing issues. These and more are gone in the NWN:EE.
This is not everything that NWN:EE provides even at this very moment and new stuff is being added continuously.
I have been running NWN since 2003 on Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 10. Works just fine. You are mostly using FUD against NWN Diamond, to make a value argument for NWN:EE. It isn't particularly compelling.
What new stuff has been added that wasn't in the original list of "enhancements"?
If "new stuff is being added continuously", there must be a big list of new items, right?
Though I bet that isn't the case, because you are just acting as a disingenuous apologist for beamdog.
Trading on FUD for NWN:Diamond, and false praise for Beamdog.
