I just noticed this little nugget in their FAQ:

Will any other content for this game be available at launch?

Yes! At this time, the following additional items are available for purchase.

Premium Modules
- Pirates of the Sword Coast
- Infinite Dungeons
- Wyvern Crown of Cormyr

Soundtracks
- Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition Official Soundtrack
- Premium Adventures Official Soundtrack

Additional DLC
- The Heroes of Neverwinter Portrait Pack


So, there's confirmation that the soundtrack (which is currently included for free with the classic NWN on GOG) will now be sold separately. And there will now be a second soundtrack, as an additional purchase.

Pirates of the Sword Coast, Infinite Dungeons and Wyvern Crown of Cormyr are currently available for free with classic NWN (although I'm not sure if that's intentional, or just a by-product of the old Bioware license servers going permanently offline), but they will become premium DLC with the Enhanced Edition -- each sold separately.

And there will also be a premium DLC "portrait pack" for sale. Because... there aren't enough good quality portraits available for free all over the Internet... or... something....

From everything I heard on the stream, all this is included as part of the main package. The question was asked a lot.

Tuesday Twitch Stream Notes

This is a compilation of some of the important information that was mentioned in the stream that aired yesterday regarding the new Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition.

I should add that this is all from memory - I may have missed some stuff out.

- Availability
It will release on Steam and GOG. You can purchase direct from Beamdog to get potential "headstart access" right away.

- Mod/Savegame Compatibility
All existing mods will be able to simply be loaded and played without any kind of editing/fixing/compiling. All saves will function the same. However, any modules created using the EE's new features will not be playable with the "classic" NWN (makes sense really).

- Releasing As "Headstart" access
It will be releasing as a kind of open beta (they called it "headtsart access"), where the community can get involved to suggest improvements and features, just like most Early Access/Beta games.

- Multiplayer Fixes
The server browser will be fixed, much like what has been done with the client extender. The developers even mentioned working with some of the team that made this, so I would imagine a lot of the benefits of it will translate over to the main game.

- Enhancing Dedicated Server Client
Ongoing improvements to the dedicated server client - they are open to ideas here. Suggestions include better player inspection, inventory management etc.

- Additional Content (later down the line)
After the main bulk of the refurbishing is completed they showed a willingness to add additional content to the game. Not much more was said as it is clearly not a focus at present.

- Compatibility and Bug Fixes
An obvious one. Water and crashing fixes were mentioned, but this will be on-going.

- Combat Mode Toggle
The combat mode constantly turning itself off will apparently be fixed.

- Enhanced Shaders
I don't pretend to really know what all this talk was about, but apparently they are doing some significant improvements to this.

- Enhanced Scripting
The toolset will get some love, which among other things could include some additional scripting features to enhance what can be done with the toolset.

- "Directors Cut"
The original campaign was mentioned and the developers admitted it was never really all that. The question was asked about "fixing it". The developers are adamant that they don't want to mess with existing content in this way, however, the possibility exists of a "directors cut" version of the OC that will cut a lot of the "filler content" and make it more streamlined for a better experience. Any editing of existing campaigns or expansions would be done in that manner (if at all - they were not sure on the matter).

- UI Improvements
Other than the stuff already mentioned and posted about here before, the UI would get a good seeing to as well to hopefully make it a little more customisable and usable.

- 64-bit Server Support
I am not too sure what was said on the game itself, but they did mention that the server client would be seeing improvements in this area to allow more content for player worlds etc.

- Multicore Performance Enhancements
Like the above, it was servers that were mainly mentioned here, but they did show an interest to do al they can to improve the base game multicore support as well.

...that's pretty much all I can remember for now.

So, are we gonna FINALLY find out what the "spinning top" was suppose to do!? lol...

AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN i hate how they're selling the product.

I really hate their commercial practices, the Deluxe edition is a cheap way of milking the cow and probably they will also remove the "OLD" version from the stores (already happened on Steam).


Why don't you respect the customer, Beamdog? Just why? With a different approach i will have probably bought all your products.

Still, removing the option to buy the old versions is a clear message saying "we know our version sucks, so you can only buy our version from now on". Even if their versions are good (or better), why remove our option of choice? Is even worse when you do this and your product have double the price of the original.

And to fix bugs, modernizing the look a bit and keep the games up to date with new hardwares and system, a patch could solve these issues, not an entire new version. Idk, they could do an expasion that fix the game for new systems, at least would be new content + fix for the game, so they could actually "sell the patch".

Also, I read somewhere that in PT:EE you don't get the key to the original version, just an download of the installer. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, having options is always nice, I can't disagree.

I don't know why they took the decision to bundle them, probably because they own the IP. Or probably because they try to target new market. I think that every true "old" fan already owned the original games on GOG so for them it doesn't make any difference if the game is sold bundled. For a new comer to the genre, it would make sense to jump directly on the EE version.

I don't think that a simple patch would have suffice to make a game compatible with the new hardware. They made much more then that. Plus, there are licensing issue involved if you don't own the IP.

I can't confirm the PT:EE key "issue", since I only own the original PT, without the EE (yet). But, I can confirm on BG:EE and IWD:EE that the key is there and you get both versions, each with their own goodies.

I'm from Brazil, and GoG just came here in 2016. This is the main reason why I don't have the original ones on my account.

Also, I guess I'm not the only one who prefers play the original first and, sometimes, stick with it, sometimes try the new one. That being said, would be better for me to actually buy thos bundles, and I would, but I don't do this because, by doing so, I would be supporting a company that makes this... awfull practive of removing the option of purchase from consumers.

But if they manage to make those EE, they have both a license and the source code I guess, so would not be a problem for them - well, they would need good programmers xD

When you get the PT:EE, and if I'm wrong and there is a key, could you give me? xD (or trade, idk)

And all the rest would have been in the good old days a freaking patch and not being sold for double or more, right?

There is another fact regarding Beamdog, a fact for which I actually like them a lot, despite sometimes behaving greedy (like companies usually do, in the end it's a business). They are the only official company that still looks into this games. They are polishing them a bit, adding new content, and hopefully in the future also making BG3 or something similar (they did it with Siege of Dragonspear). Without them, this gems would simply die and be forgotten. Sure, we have new isometric RPGs like Pillars of Eternity, but the feeling of D&D is not there. Nothing beats BG.

Actually the soundtrack for BG:EE (7 songs) and BG2:EE (15 songs) do contain new songs. I don't think that's the case for IWD:EE though.

Yes, I like this ideia of keeping the classics alive and try to bring new content, I only hate the lack of option. Beamdog could just let GoG sell the originals and the hate would be much lower.

Still, did they have some original game already or just those EE?

As far as I know only Siege of Dragonspear is their only original game (plus the extra content in BG1/2: companions, quests and locations).

That is not true, and you know it. You get a copy of the Classic version if you buy the EE game, but the soundtrack is not included anymore (they removed it when they started selling the soundtracks separately). If you bought the classics before the EE versions were out, you still have the soundtrack included with those. You just don't get it via the EE version.

The copy of the classic version you claim via the EE version doesn't show up on your shelf either. It is just treated as an extra under the EE version.

And Beamdog trying to keep the legacy of those games alive? Come on. Those games were the highest selling games on GoG even after the EE versions came out. The legacy was very much alive. Beamdog just bundled them so they could get all the income from both versions.

And fixing bugs? The classics, on GoG, were bug free. Never played them, did you? The EE versions, however, are still a buggy mess and they get biggier each time Beamdog patches them.

If you love the EE games, great. But don't lie about them to get people to buy them or support Beamdog.
