I'm running NWN2 on Windows 8.1 (64 bit)

My video card is a Nvidia Geforce GTX 860M

My processor is an Intel Core i7-4710HQ 2.50GHz

The in-game resolution box is empty, and the game runs at 1024 x 768 regardless of my changing the screen dimensions and refresh rate (my monitor is 48 Hz) in nwn.ini and nwn2.ini. I have found nothing on the internet that solves this problem for me.

In fullscreen, the game is stretched (I'm running my monitor at 1600 x 900), and in windowed mode the game is quite small.

Any ideas?

You can manually set an arbitrary resolution (i.e. for windowed mode) by closing down the game entirely first, then going to Documents, Neverwinter Nights 2, and opening nwn2.ini in Notepad.

Look for the section like this:

[Display Options]
FullScreen=0
Width=1440
Height=960

P.S. If you're using the NWN2 Client Extension, there is a /fswindow command to put the game in a windowed mode that spans the whole screen at the native desktop resolution, similar to "fullscreen windowed" options in other games.

Found an odd ball way to set up for a 2k monitor. You need to go into config from the main menu and go into windowed mode. Once you do that you can then set your resolution to that of your desktop. Once you have accepted that you can then tell it to go into fullscreen mode and it will stay that way, with no crashing or problems.

I found that going to windowed mode, changing the resolution and then going back the fullscreen did the trick.

Yesterday, I thought of this method myself, but when I clicked "Full Screen" application crashed with an error, helped switching over via Alt+Enter

Was driving crazy after 2 hours of ini file shenanigans (i hate ini files...), but this saved my day! kudos =)

This is great...I was struggling to figure out how to fix the crash when I adjusted my resolution, and this tip worked perfectly. Thank you very much!

Thank you so much. I wanted to play this on my new desktop- not sure when resolution changes brought it but I was so scared I wouldn't be able to play anymore. Thanks!
