Can someone post a link or recommend and Rogue/ Fighter/ SD build for NWN1? Looking to play the OC and possibly HOTU. Thank you.

once you play a bit with the oc, you maybe can consider trying out your build in team pvp.

it's pretty amazing how suddenly everything changes in pvp, and all your great ideas suddenly take a leap forward when you realise "omg, i could do that? wow!" - heh yea.. um rogues/assassins/sneak attacks etc are heaps of fun in team pvp. i found it quite fun to watch hapless players paralysed from death attack, or doughty fighters go down under a hail of sneak attack. pick pocketing is fun too-- but this is often really frowned upon on pvp.

SD is really fun. i have heard being a shifter and playing the kobold shape lets u have HIPS. which is pretty awesome given the bonuses shifters have.

Yeah, kobold have hips but its sneak dice isn't that impressive - just 2d6(5d6 for elite commando) so without assassins level he is kinda subpar here, Through assassin on shifter is awesome - since you don't need str and dex you can max out int. Thats becomes insanely fun with 50 DC on death attack xD

yea its weird how often in pvp i come across combinations and abilities i never anticipated (even after trying to build my very best builds offline (and this was before lvl 40)).

the OC and single player games are still fun for many, but i just tend to prefer the online possibilities. I remember peope used to adventure Chp 1 / 2 of the OC as an online game. and players would log in and be ported to the main party group as they arrived, and left as they pleased. Maybe it was like a community museum trip ... players would join the party.. hang around and pass some tips, or just lounge around creating atmosphere... while the main new players puzzled out their difficulties (or died doing so....)..

You could also try one as elf (For keen senses) and replace Fighter with Cot... R29, COT10, SD1.

I found that all round better than human with fighter. You can dual wield or go sword and board (small or large shield) and have no problem with sneak immune. The build above that one is a human with fighter.

Thank you. What would you suggest for starting stats, feats and level progression? Weapons? I was thinking of rapier and short sword.

That's terrible and flat out incorrect "advice."

First of all, a Fighter has full BAB while rogues and shadowdancers have 3/4 BAB. This means more fighter levels will result in an easier time of hitting opponents.

Second, a fighter has a d10 hit die while a shadowdancer only has a d8 and a rogue is even further down at a d6. So we have less accuracy and less hit points.

Third, a fighter still gets a lot of bonus feats which helps get stuff like Weapon Finesse, Two-Weapon Fighting, Ambidexterity, Improved Two Weapon Fighting, Weapon Focus, Dodge, Mobility, etc.

Do rogues get Sneak Attack and better/more skills? Absolutely. But the fighter hardly loses all its usefulness past level 4...and you're definitely making a trade-off to take more rogue levels than fighter (and vice versa).

Yes, fighter is more AB, but with hips your ab is high enough. Yes, fighter has d10 hp, but with hips you are quite defended even then. Yes, fighter has bonus feat, but you don't need that many feats actually. What you loose as a fighter is a sneak dice. Pretty much main reason why you may want to go with shadowdancer here - to have reliable way to deliever three sneak attacks per round. Additionally with rogue 15 you can take crippling strike, improve evasion and defensive roll pre-epic. That means that upon reaching epic you pretty much just need to get 30 tumble to qualify for epic dodge - one of the damn best defensive feat in game. So yeah, fighter more the 4 is useless here. Thats pretty easy - start as rogue. Preferably halfling. They are insane race xD Get 18-20 dex, do not ignore str and you cant sneak on) have decent int and con? get SD requirements asap as it would make you really awesome. Fighter you can push somewhere in the middle(not actually very imporatnt where exactly but be sure to get it pre-epic) . I advice shortsword, but if you are not halfling - rapier or scimitar. Up dex to 25 to get epic dodge and finish with around 30 dex. Get weapon finess asap and dont miss blind fight and improved critical. You better off with two similar weapons since this way you will have only one weapon to get WF, WS and IC for

as for skills - its simple: tumble, spellcraft, use magic device, hide, move silently and discipline - 100% take and max. Other - as you like. In companion search, disable device and open locks are useful since you can take capable figher as a companion that way. Or you can get diplomasy\bluff\etc. Kinda a lot of freedom with this one

Fighter benefits BAB (better to hit and extra attack) and gives you feats, which you are going to need if you are going to use dex (finesse) and dual wielding (Ambi/TWF/ITWF), and get many other useful feats.

Ro15/F4/SD1 is a terrible level split. It gives you 15 BAB. You lose one attack/round. Max of 12 rogue levels (before epic) if you want the full 4 main attacks/round. Stuck at 3/round with 15 BAB.

Epic Precision is not a NWN1 feat. Epic Dodge is hardly worth chasing as people typically finish HotU around level 27-28. I have played a half dozen times and never finished higher than level 28.

Other than the bad advice above, be aware that being a dex based rogue depending on sneak attacks to do damage can suck a lot on NWN1 campaigns that are usually full of undead that are immune to sneak attack.

Rogue 15 can easy take at level 27 and is pretty nice feat against final boss and few other late enemies.

What exacly are the feats you might want to get past finess and 4 two weapon feats, WF, WS and IC and maybe Blind-fight?Yeah, toughness is nise to have but I'd say its far from needed in compenions. Great Cleave is also nice but as far as I remeber it doesn't deliever sneak attack in fight.

Eahh... I kinda got carried away with Epic presition - checked ut module where it was implemented so it kinda stucked.. So eath, sorry its not here. But as I sa even if epic dodge comes late - its worth it. And even then with UDM you can wear monk robes and for high dex character they are awesome

Feats that would be necessary/beneficial:

Exotic Weapons. If you are going to be a dual wield Halfling, the best weapon choice is Kukris.
Ambi
TWF
ITWF
Weapons Finesse.
Blind Fight.
Dodge
Mobility (need these to qualify for Shadow Dancer)
WF
WS
Improved Crit
Iron Will - F/R/SD have VERY weak will saves.
Toughness

You are still ignoring that your split costs an extra attack/round.

And the big issue of build a finesse character that can't hurt the ubiquitous undead.

ah, I rechecked flurry mechanics here. I'm a bit more familiar with nwn2 mechanics so yeah, 1 more attack nwn seems to worth a bit more then in nwn2.

Are there any good kukri's in HoyU? I remember one pretty damn nice shortsword - keen with massive criticals.

Welll if you go str there are kinda no reason to go shadowdancer xD You can go assassin fighter/WM\Assassin and imporove knocktown to sneak attack. But eah, without ability to sneak undead dex character kinda loose its appeal(through I think decent weapon can still fix it xD)

What would you recommend as a better split? I was thinking strength based and not Dex based Rogue, so more fighter levels would probably work better.

SD kinda loose his stick when you go str(not only you lower your hide skill by having low dex - heavier armor and shield cut dex bonus even more. If you want to go str you kinda better drop SD for something like Cot/WM
