touched: I thought this thread was about NWN1 not being the original Neverwinter Nights, the online-only 1991 multiplayer SSI game on AOL.
Ha. Me too. :)
Ferryman: I used to have the game in CDs. it seems that NWN1 is not the original and it has changed. I found some weird items with strange colors and art mostly cloaks that i have never seen before. there is also a strange item in my inventory called "pc properties" that looks like meat and i can't drop it. i can't start the game from the shortcut it crashes, i must start from nwnmain.exe. the gog version is bad and not like the CDs.
NWN (CD version and this version) both have issues running on modern systems the way it was intended due to the way that the file systems are protected on modern machines. You can still run the game, but you do have to run the specific .exe's now with some installations (I was good on Win 7, but not so much on Win 10 -- no go on Linux Mint too).
Cloaks were added after the CD version came out. They are a nice addition. There's also lots of tilesets, monsters, horses, and some other nice things added between version 1.0 to 1.69 (especially if you're a building and do your own scripting). You will find them in your toolset if you're interested in looking. Many good modules have been made using those assets.
I hope you enjoy the game. It's been made far nicer since the original release.
