I own NWN Diamond Edition from previously, DVD format.
I have put it into Compatibility Mode.
I have downloaded the DirectX.
I am still getting the Message that says that NWN does not work on this version of Windows.

Do I need to buy it through this website in hopes that it will run?

Try renaming nwnmain.exe to something else, like nwngame.exe and launch directly from that.

Did you install it in the default path?
You need to install it anywhere other than C:\ProgramFiles.....

It now works! Well, at least, gets me into the game proper, so it shouldn't be a problem from there.

I bought this a couple of days ago... I have read through this forums and I am having a resolution problem. Is there a max that NWN Diamond supports only?

I think 2560x1600 might be the Max. I have run it at that without problem, but people using 4K reported problems.

Alright, I was just looking for the 1920x1080 - Seems that by 'overiding the high DPI scaling..." seems to have addressed it.

Now, if I can get the game to stop borking and moving my desktop icons all over the place.

Right click on your desktop > View > uncheck both auto arrange icons & align icons to grid.

Perhaps a silly question (seeing as it is exactly what the prompt is telling me) but can NWN 1 run at all on Win 10? I've been able to play it even since the last SP update but now (within the last few months) it suddenly says it won't run on this version. Diamond Edition - DVD, like always; I seem to remember having trouble installing and playing the very first time I had it (a few years ago) but that problem was remedied by Running As Administrator. This one, not so much....

Also, is Atari Support really corrupt or the site down...? NWN 2 can't update (mabye the game isn't supported anymore) but the website they suggest (www.atarisupport.com) is apparently not secure and can't be visited.... WTF is going on?

I've been able to run it fine. You may need to run it in compatibility mode with a previous version of Windows, though: https://en.softonic.com/articles/how-to-run-old-software-on-windows-10

As for your other question, I'm pretty sure NWN 2 is no longer supported. Happily, the Gog version is the final version with all patches, so you don't need to update it.

Just upgraded to a new computer with Windows 10, haven't played NWN since Vista stopped being supported. When trying to install the Collector's Edition from CD, everything seems fine right up until it asks me to insert the play disc to complete the installation. Once I do, it acknowledges the disc, but then does nothing with it; if I click on anything, it just goes to the autorun, which tells me to insert the first disc to begin installation, and we're back to starting the install all over again. Is Windows 10 really this stupid? I mean, the discs are just fine, and I have never had this sort of problem before. It's exasperating! I believe I have the Diamond Edition on DVD around here somewhere, but is that going to be compatible wirth all of my saved game files, if it even works? Or do I have to buy this game a third time, from GoG, just to play?

It's probably the DRM on the disks causing issues.

The old disks, have disk based copy protection. That may be the source of the issues.

Starting with Vista, the OS got a lot more strict about what disk based DRM schemes could access, and thus broke some of them.

DRM is almost always just pain for legitimate customers, and nothing but entertainment for Crackers that pirate games.

This is why GOG is great. It frees us of those DRM pains.

Okay, Diamond Edition installs from DVD okay, runs in compatibility mode for XP SP3. Only thing is, the movies don't work, I just get the sound over a loading screen, then the game plays.

I went into Windows and enabled Direct Play, nothing changes.

I download and install directx_Jun2010_redist, nothing changes.

I have also heard that it might be necessary to set Safemovie to 1 in the config file, except there is no such line in my config file.

Windows 10 is a pain.

My bad, was looking at wrong config file! Have set Safemovie to 1, now they work. D'OH!
