Hello!

This right here is my very first post on these forums, so apologies if I failed miserably with searching for a solution.

Alright, so my problem is that whenever I quit playing the game, my desktop brightness goes insanely bright. I can just reset it back to normal in the Nvidia control panel or Windows' monitor settings, but I'd rather have a proper solution for this.

Been googling around for a while, but didn't find much, some fixes for Ati users, but being an Nvidia user, those weren't much help.

If you need any information about my specs and such, I'll post whatever needed. Although I doubt its anything hardware-related, since my brother's PC, with completely different specs, is having the exact same problem.

Thanks in advance, and sorry about the wall of text.

Necroing this thread as I'm having the exact same issue, 2½ years later, and still seeing no fix.

Neither of you even mentioned which game you are referring to, but I'm going to assume you mean NWN1, because that game is not compatible with certain colour schemes, such as Windows Aero, and Windows will automatically disable any incompatible scheme when you start the game. You will get a warning about this on startup, and will see the attached dialog if you 'press here...' on the warning.

Now normally Windows will automatically restore the chosen colour scheme when you quit the game. It sounds like your colour schemes are not being restored. Do you have third party schemes installed?

Sorry about that, Hickory. I just Googled the issue, found this thread, and assumed it was clear that the thread was about NWN1. A bit too quick on the draw...

Regarding the issue, I never got a warning about incompatible schemes when I started the game, and I have no third-party schemes installed. The only way to restore the colour scheme is by doing it manually or restarting my computer.

What version of Windows are you running? And what is your colour scheme?
I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bits, and my colour scheme is Windows 7 Basic.

Right, so that's why NWN1 isn't changing the colour scheme for you (you're already set to 'basic'). My suggestion would be to go into your nVidia control panel check the 'Adjust desktop colour settings'. Normally having this set for other applications to control the colours would not be a problem, but most systems have their unique quirks. Try changing it from application controlled to nVidia controlled (see attached).

I tried doing as you suggested, and it looks like it did the trick! Thanks for the help.

Excellent. A worthwhile necro. :-)
Well, having the same problem, so *bump* I guess, I couldn't find anything on google either :(

EDIT: Wait, nevermind. For some reason this topic wasn't displaying any replies. So I post mine and the solution appears. Sorry for the necro.
