They probably did this to save on pc resources originally. I`ve looked can`t find one, but with today`s pcs, surely there must be a mod that stops dead bodies vanishing away?

For NWN2....

I'm no expert, but I recall several experiences that lead me to say that there isn't one that wouldn't be pretty big for a normal mod. See, there are instances in the game where corpses stay there, like they're dead/dying players, scripted to stay like that and not get up. Most of the time, though, bodies tend to vanish, whether after you've looted them or before the loot even drops. If you want all the bodies to stay like the few circumstances where they're already staying, you'd probably need to change the scripts for pretty much every fight encounter so that every corpse remains and doesn't vanish. And frankly, that's way too much work for such a small detail.

Interesting.
I actually tried the NWN version (Hypergore mod) on NWN2.

It worked in NWN2, up to a point... Some bodies stayed, some didn`t. Worst of all some deaths of npcs are linked to triggering a new scene, so a scene won`t start until the dead NPC actually vanishes.

I have modded, but not these kind of games and certainly not the level of actual scripting, so I can`t make a mod.

I am surprised, though, that after all these years nobody managed to make a `body-stay` mod for NWN2. Usually with popular games like this after a long time or so will have one guy who figured it out- Guess it must be nigh impossible.

Thanks for your reply.
It's not about whether or not it's possible It's about the fact that your first mistake - a supreme one at that - was ever assuming this game was popular. I've posted several times here, usually with questions, and most of them either didn't get any replies or unhelpful ones. It's likely that the most helpful people either have stopped caring about the game or simply aren't active here.

Or dead, any of which.
Try https://neverwintervault.org/ . the community still has lots of builder and player and you can find a lot of modules and tweaks to the game.

I thought it closed or something.

I think that's true for most game subforums here on GOG. People who check these on the regular are probably a very small minority, and experts on the games in question who are interested in communicating with others are more likely to be found on specific game community forums outside of GOG, like Neverwinter Vault.

The original Vault run by IGN closed. The community tried to rescue as much content as they could from that and created their own, privately run successor.

Huh. How active is it?

Not as active as it used to be, but still quite active. Don't expect people to reply as quickly as on GOG's General Discussion forum, but you will probably get more replies than here in the subforum, over a couple of days. And from people with experience, modders, avid players etc. Yours sounds like a question for the Custom Content (aka modder) forums.

What do you mean? Which forum? Which question?

EDIT: Sorry, I confused you with the OP who had a question about bodies vanishing. Dunno what your questions were.

Which question, yes, since I only asked how active NV was, unless you're referring to other questions I posted here.

Well, with that attitude you probably won't get many answers there either, but whatever. ;)
