I just completed the third chapter where I tried to complete the romance storyline with Aribeth. Well, I didn't, and I wonder why since I felt I did everything right. A bit of googling seems indicate there might be a big with the storyline.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Have you managed to complete it (getting the Knower of Names to tell you your true love is Aribeth)?

Yeah, there's a bug. This thread may help you fix it if you're familiar with the toolset: http://forum.bioware.com/topic/237758-aribeth-romance-spoilers/

Note that you'd have to restart the module for those changes to take affect.

In general, though, unless you've in love with HotU I'd strongly recommend playing some of the amazing custom campaigns which are far better than the official campaigns anyway (no, I'm not even joking, at least like half a dozen are better than anything Bioware put out).
I do quite like HotU, but I wouldn't mind trying other campaigns, do you have any suggestions?

So there's no patch to fix it? I guess I'll have to try and follow the instructions, I have close to zero programming knowledge.. Edit: That was pretty painless

By restarting the module, do you mean just that chapter or the whole campaign?

I have attached a fix for this. I've had it on my hard drive for years, and cannot remember where I got it. The .zip attachment has been renamed to a .jpg to allow upload, so you will need to rename it back to AriRomanceFix2.zip and open it with your favourite archiver. Instructions are inside.

Thanks a lot, but I figured it out from the thread posted above :). I'd still love to hear suggestions for good 3rd party modules

That is something I always baulk from doing, for any game, because suggestions are so subjective; what I love you may hate, and vice versa. There is one constant: suggestions are always biased, without exception.
Here are some starting suggestions, note these are only my personal preferences. :)

Penultima Rerolled: good humor and an engaging story:- http://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/module/penultima-rerolled

Darkness over Daggerford: advanced features like the world map, enjoyable sidequests:- http://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/module/darkness-over-daggerford-canceled-premium-module
Here's a list of modules to start you off, though there are many more which are quite good (Penultima and Penultima Rerolled are prior work of the guy who did HeX Coda and Darkness over Daggerford was decent enough, even if I didn't think it was amazing -- about the same quality as the original official campaign):

Note that the links are broken but finding them on the new vault shouldn't be hard.

I'd particularly recommend Aielund as arguably the best of them in general and the best to start off with. HeX Coda is amazing but less combat focused. Swordflight is also amazing but more combat focused and more difficult. Sanctum is probably slightly harder than Aielund but a bit easier than Swordflight but with some trickier focus on non-combat mechanics (and still amazing).
