Is Death Slaad supposed to be healing itself since I am having hard time killing the one in Host Tower? I simply can't damage it enough with my Paladin (9) CoT (5). I have to use divine might and I am not scoring enough crits.
Nevermind. I said fuck it and used the dagger of chaos with haste. Killed it in 5 seconds. Still the question is, is it supposed to heal itself since I can't find the explanation anywhere.

Death Slaad had regeneration, and damage reduction. It can be a nasty combo.

Thanks for the reply brother. And yeah, ti was nasty. I'm having hard time in this game with longswords actually. I like to play sword and shield combination in CRPG games but it seems like I'll just have to switch to 2 handed from time to time. Can you provide me with info about what longsword is actually the best in OC ? It kind of feels like OC lacks a great longsword. I'm a kind of player that simply need to check every single chest and barrel and every item in the shop and almost every drop so I am pretty sure I haven't missed any.

I like the Greatsword as it helps to cut through Damage reduction, but Sword and Shield is better for defence. I usually equip both on my characters.

Longswords are usually most common drop. Did you choose "Weapon Focus" in Longsword, that helps with a few chests that are geared to to give you the weapon most suited to you.

Long sword is a great choice for a Paladins because of the Holy Avenger, which IIRC is always a long-sword in the original campaigns. That would probably be the best if you can find one. There is definitely one in SoU, but I don't remember one in the OC.

You can forge a Astral Blade. Which is a Longsword that does additional Sonic Damage. Which almost nothing can resist. Google "NWN Recipes of the Forge" if you want spoilers.

I have no idea what Longsword is actually best. Because some drops are random, and it would be different each play through.

EDIT:

I checked an old saved game (Scimitar Focus)
In Chapter 1: I had +1 Desert WInd Scimitar
In Chapter 2 I was using a Longsword because that was the best thing I found. It was called. Blessings of the Daystar (+3).
In Chapter 3 I was switching between +2 Desert Wind and Daystar.

I have no idea if Daystar was a Random drop or placed, but since I was focused Scimitars, it seems like that it is there for everyone. It would be a pretty nice option for Ch 2.

Thanks again for the reply. It seems like I haven't missed anything. And sure I am using longsword focus. It seems like I'll simply have to use greatswords when I encounter high damage reduction (like in that devourer in host tower) I am using Astral Blade +2 right now for the longsword shield combo. I played BG1 and 2 and Holy Avenger kicks ass. The way you explain it, Holy Avenger is a little bit different in NWN, but I won't ask you what is the deal behind it since I do not wish to spoil the fun :D Thank you once again brother, you were great help.

In the case of the Death Slaad, he has Damage Reduction 20/+2 which means he ignores 20 physical damage per hit unless you have a +2 weapon or better. And in the Host Tower, you should really have at least a +2 weapon.

Especially since as a Paladin you could cast Greater Magic Weapon to get a +3/+4 weapon (need to be level 9 for a +3 weapon and level 12 for a +4 weapon).

Basically, the game designers assumed that the damage reduction wouldn't remotely be an issue in this scenario.
