for some reason i am getting this error "d3dx9_30.dll". my direct X is up to date, and my computer can handle most if not all games on a high-ultra setting. how do i fix this issue? it happens when i try to enter the game.

That is the name of a DLL, it is not an error. What is the precise error message you are getting?

Strange. I tried installing NWN Diamond, on a Windows 10 clean install, and it worked without any DX install.

If your talking about NWN2, which does require DirectX, and the .dll in the error message was dsetup32.dll, then it might be your overzealous antivirus software quarantined or deleted the .dll
Disable your antivirus software and re-download the runtimes from the Microsoft link above, Don't worry, you won't get a virus from Microsoft, some antivirus software just deletes old .dlls rather than taking the time to check them.

Update for anyone else having this issue.
The links in this thread will no longer work because microsoft has removed the download of older directx versions recently. No one knows why they have done this and they have made no statements. Even their own website will provide links to these downloads but it will 404.
Kinda of leads your hands tied. You have to do a lot of googling to find reliable sources for directx downloads now.
