Ok, I must admit the game rules are very complicated.
But the OC/MotB are so easy that any char can make it because you got some good group members.
And a single class char with good values in their most importand stats (fighter with high strengh, rogue with high dex, cleric with high wis, wizard with high int and some con for all) will most likely be better than if you take randomly 4 different classes.
When you start a game, select the race and class you want and press "recommanded" when it comes to stats and maybe skills, you will get something useful that can finish the game. This might not bring the best results, but it is surely better than choosing something random because you don´t know what you are doing.
Some memories from my first time with this game (NWN2)
- The first char I made was an aasimar paladin. In the tutorial everyone leveled up except me (Thats an ELC class). I thought the game is completely bugged and stopped playing.
- Later I tried again and choose recommanded all the time. So I ended up with a human fighter. It went well for some time until the game got harder and harder. Finally I had to quit because one battle was to hard.
Today I know the reason for this. At some point I commanded my group to follow me and I did not realize that they did not attac from that point on.
-Years later I read through some character creation guides for some time, made a good (but not perfect) char and finished OC/MotB without problems. Then I wrote my onw guide here on gog so everyone can understand the basics of this game. Now I know even more (enough to know that my guide is far from perfect), but it is good enough to give a good start to this topic. And I also know that you dont need a complicated guide to finish the game as long as you try everything out and don´t give up so fast.
