Not long ago, a studio well known for adding a zoom option to it's enhanced editions (the only addition which worked) now work on a new project:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6wyNadJLsg

For those who wish to play Nwn buy it now.
Before Nwn Diamond will be lost.

(new dull characters, dull quests) - not confirmed, but we know Beamdog

Too old for this..........

Still remember the Nwn MMO back in 1991.

If a somehow offended you PeterScott or Stig79. Then please accept my (sincere) apologies.
No offence taken. The board should be full of threads like this. Another classic is being hijacked by a greedy leech of a company. Travesty.

Well said
I, too, was skeptical about it, but I think we can give Beamdog the benefit of doubt here.

1. Slowly, but Beamdog has been learning from their mistakes - for example, they haven't touched P:T's story and characters in any way like they did with BG, and they don't intend to do this in case of NWN:EE.

2. They've recruited prominent members of the community: one of the programmers is niv, the admin of NWN Vault (who often pays for the maintenance of the website out of his own pocket, so we can rest assured he has the good of the game and the community in mind) and Shadooow, the Community Patch's author. When asked, both were happy about their collaboration with Beamdog and both seem to believe NWN:EE will be a step in the right direction for the game and its community.

3. They've opened up suggestion threads on their forums, so that community can propose their ideas. Sure, that may be a PR stunt and nothing else, but I'm sure at least some of them (like niv) care.

I opposed much of what Beamdog did earlier, such as all this SJW crap, but people change and so do companies - especially when they meet with such backlash. Of course, this will still be a bitter-sweet treat to some extent, because I'm sure the NWN:DE will be removed from the store and bundled with the EE.

Still, let's try to see some positive sides - and don't pretend there are none. NWN will get a chance to be reborn, technical support will be back, premium modules previously not legally obtainable anywhere will be purchasable again, the game's development and bugfixing will continue, the game will become available on Steam, further increasing its popularity, etc.

Also, let's not forget that whereas BG, IWD, PT were games, NWN is much more like a game engine. It's not that important for BG to have every bug fixed, because people play it once and then at most return to it some time later to play once more. NWN, on the other hand, hosts a number of micro-MMOs and offers hundreds of community-made adventures. As such, stuff that didn't matter that much in previous EEs (such as bug fixing and optimization) are exponentially more important in NWN.

There really are things to be joyful - or at least hopeful - about.

Too long, didn't read - let's just give Beamdog the benefit of doubt here, because I think everyone will agree with me when I say this endeavor at least has the potential to be something great!

Read this one. They haven't "learned" anything.

The only potential this thing has is for Beamdog to secure all income from yet another franchise they had no hand in creating in the first place.

Right, nothing can defend that statement of theirs. They tried to save their face desperately and they failed.
Still, it's wrong to say it's the ONLY potential thing. All these things I've mentioned may still be true. And when I said they've been learning, I was referring to the lack of SJW bullshit in their later releases.

The SJW crap started when they hired Dave Gross an extreme virtue-signalling male feminist, to write new characters for their EE versions. He later made sure two of his SJW friends (Amber Scott and the other one) got the job as lead writers for SoD. Gross wrote the lesbian vampire companion, that had no vampire abilities, for BG2 EE. No Dave Gross pulling the strings and we wouldn't have had Amber Scott messing up the whole BG series with her "progressiveness".

Well, fortunately, at least we won't have to deal with this crap in NWN:EE.

Just more bugs, and having to pay 3-4 times more for the game than you used to.

And that money will be used to finance more sjw stuff in their upcoming Baldur's Gate 3.

It may be different this time, for the sole reason of their collaboration with Shadooow and niv, both of whom are very committed to the game's good. I expect NWN:EE to fix all important bugs - niv already said that all known crashes have been fixed already and there's no reason to disbelieve him.

I don't see that that "collaboration" as a good sign, it is merely so Beamdog can take the work of the NWN community, that is freely available and monetize it for themselves.

I doubt the collaborators have any true input other than allowing community work to be freely used to profit Beamdog.
