Possibly, as has been described and also suggested by some kind gamers in here, this is just some strange glitch between the latest Windows 10 update and the game/GoG catching up ..or visa versa.
I started playing NeverWinter Nights 2... had been told to play it for years now & I am enjoying it. But "out of the blue" strange mechanics of gameplay stop working. Most recently, after leaving Uncle Duncan's tavern, I chose my pals to come along... and, though I have triple checked how I choose them, nada. ... as in, nothing. I am always alone. Other weird things...
But just in case, there is more like this... I keep searching all over the net.... but all the discussions are old-timers that have been playing so long that no one discusses basic game play anymore. :-(
Surely somewhare there is a Basics Guide for us newbs? So I am not bothering you lot that know this game inside and out!
Thanks for any help! xox
and happy times gaming,

If you have reached Duncan's tavern, it is not possible you do not know the game mechanics yet so I assume you met a glitch. Try loading an earlier save and see if it reoccurs.

Hmm.. Now that I come to think of it, it is possible you gave them the "stand their ground" command. As in you asked them to wait.

Right Click anywhere in the screen. Click Broadcast command --> Follow Me Alternatively you can click attack nearest.

Smart thinking, Engerek01!
I did do the earlier save and that worked, but you are correct that I can forget I gave certain commands to them that then change their behaviour. I will run through all that more thoughtfully from now on.
I must admit I get very excited in the heat of battle XD and then I am all full of myself after it is over lol!
So I will add a clean up check on group commands to my pre-celebration postbattle activities ;-)
