I've been trying to play Uru on Windows Vista with a very good gaming rig, and I've encountered a few problems:
Firstly, I can't seem to get the intro video working - the video rectangle appears, but it's full of flashing colours rather than any identifiable shapes.
Secondly, and maybe linked to the first problem, is that all of the textures for plants (as well as most of the walls in the fissue) are completely white/blank.
I've tried running the game in compatability modes and fiddling with the settings, but nothing seems to resolve these issues. Is anyone else having these problems? Can anyone fix them?

Hi,
I just installed the game and no, not having those problems so far, on Win7 64 bit.
Here's what i did
-After installation, i went into the shortcut propeties and applied
.XP SP3 compatibility mode
.Run as Admin
.Disable Visual themes
.Disable Desktop composition
Then i went to URU's start menu folder, right clicked the setup and selected 'run as admin' (instead of double click)
The configuration tool came up, i adjusted my preferences and pressed play. That's it.
What graphics card do you have ?

I've tried those things with no luck.
My graphics card is an Asus EAH4870, and I'm running it on a quad core PC with Vista 64 bit, if that helps.

Maybe it's a graphics driver related issue ? Or some setting in your ATI CCC ?
I seem to remember this issue being refered to as 'Relto Snow'. Many textures missing troughout the Ages causing white patches similar to those seen in your picture, and usually it was a drivers related issue. Naturally, i can't be sure if that's true in your case, even because it has been a while since i've seen this issue mentioned.
If you haven't updated your drivers you could try that, as the alternative, rolling back, is always a gamble as it might not solve the issue at all.
Just for reference, i have an Asus ENGTX 295 with the latest drivers. I've been playing for the last couple of hours without any issues.
The game was just released (on gog) so untill other users start posting their results with the game, it's a bit hard to try and figure out what's causing the issue at your end.
Meanwhile, you can always submit a ticket to support along with your DxDiag.
Edit:
Do you get the same issues if you switch to first person view ? (Default key is F1)

My drivers are up to date, and I'd rather not roll them back unless I've got no other choice. And the same effect happens in first person mode, so I'll try contacting support.
Thanks for the help.
I haven't got the GoG version of this, but I remember back when I originally got the game it was very sensitive to graphics drivers. In particular I had to downgrade my drivers in order to see the text on notes (and in the Path of the Shell worlds). Of course, that was several years back, so hopefully things have improved since then.
Any solution to this yet Planeforger? I've got the exact same issue under Win7 32, also on an Asus (ATI) card.

Thank you! Ive had this issue myself, and its nice to know that at least one other person has this issue (was starting to think it was just me). Ive been unable to find a fix for it, and would really like play this game. If someone has managed to find a fix, could they post it here and let me know? Thanks
