I've heard this series is incredible. I want to get into them. but I couldn't help but notice that Myst has an enhanced version

I really like the early CGI look of Myst(it floods me with nostalgia for some reason), but RealMyst is clearly graphically superior.

so, topic?

I'd say RealMyst. While the early CGI look of the original game is more nostalgic, it gets old fast because of the point-and-click slideshow style navigation. All of the graphics are basically just prerendered pictures.

Meanwhile RealMyst is realtime 3D. You can walk around and look at things from whatever angle you like. Some ages have a day/night cycle. It's overall much more immersive.

RealMyst also has an additional age (Myst's term for a world to explore), which teases the sequel. There's also a couple additional touches that tie in with the Myst novels.

Overall it's just a better version of the game. Really the only reason to choose the original is for pure nostalgia, and if you never played the original then there's far less of that to be had.

Alright, thanks for the info!
RealMyst Masterpiece is due to come to GOG sometime soon.

Do we know this for sure?

It's a tough sell, because I don't get the same rush of nostalgia with realMyst as I would have playing the original (funny how that is) but all things considered, I would have to recommend realMyst. It is a more complete, refined and extensive package. There are a lot of surprises when playing realMyst, even if it is just looking at things from a slightly different angle. That's not all realMyst has to offer, of course, and it is graphically beautiful.

There was tweet that outright confirmed it from Cyan games.

Link?

I don't follow Twitter, and I have not caught word of this from Facebook or Cyan's forums.
