ResidualVM has a widescreen mode for Myst 3. Any idea how to activate it?

Hmmm will have to monkey around with it and see what happens. If i learned anything from Myst it's to push/pull/turn all buttons/levers/knobs

I'd also like to know. Right now the view only fills up about 3/4 of the screen. I'm sure I've played it as a stretched view at some point...

Warning using the widescreen mod you will not see subtitles
Alright first off you'll need to grab the latest version 3.1 from http://www.residualvm.org/downloads/ (use the zip file as we are not installing but replacing the older files
the one included in the GOG release is 2.1 and they added the widescreen support in 3.0
now copy the files from the download zip into the Residualvm Directory found in the install directory
Now launch the game.
once in game press ctrl+F5 to access residuals menu (just a heads up the menu doesn't scale to high res so I had to get close to my 4k tv to see it)
select "return to launcher"
then on the right hand side choose "edit game"
select the "engine" tab at the top
check the "widescreen mod" and click OK
and click start

Thank you! It worked. Myst 3 is looking surprisingly well in widescreen. Wonder, why gog hasn't updated to the latest ResidualVM version yet? It is fixing bugs in Myst 3, too.
What does this actually look like? I thought Myst 3 (and IV) were prerendered at 4:3. Is this true widescreen, or is it just stretched?

Edit: found this post: http://www.residualvm.org/news/20171230/

Looks surprisingly good!

Myst 3 and 4 are pre-rendered, but they're pre-rendered panoramas so there isn't really an aspect ratio per se. It's one render per 'navigation node' and the engine defines the viewport that you get to look through.
The actual game view didn´t cover the whole screen in 4:3 originally, so, the widescreen conversion nearly fits perfectly the same view than the vanilla version but using the whole size of a widescreen monitor.
And they have even implemented a hiding book downwards in a very clever way.
I was very impressed for the profesional result of this mod.

Thanks so much, Lance!

I'm also running at 4K (3840x2160 on an Acer Predator). The mouse pointer is so small I can't see it, especially I can't see the difference between a navigation pointer & the pointers with infinitesimal [+] & [-]. I'm awaiting membership approval for the ResidualVM forum but thought I'd ask here if anyone has devised a fix (or residualvm.ini addition) that scales the ResidualVM runtime to scale it larger.
Warmest Regards,
Mark.
