Hopefully we will see an update this week... This 1.0 NoRevision release is... Yeah.

I love the concept, art, and a lot of the characters. But man we really need the latest update. Can anyone explain to me why some companies have so much trouble keeping games on GoG updated while others seem to have no issue at all?

I don't really have an answer to that, but there was a similar discussion about The Long Dark, which is no longer being sold on GoG but receiving updates for those who already own it.
The last huge update to TLD was right before Christmas. At least on Steam. The GoG update then came around 3 weeks later in the new year. The devs (Hinterland Studio) stated, that the update has been submitted to GoG just a few days after the Steam update, but it's not on the devs to actually provide the update to the end user. So GoG had the update, but it took them quite a while to actually make it accessible to us. Why that is, I can't tell, but it just seems to me, that delayed updates aren't always to be blamed on the devs themselves, but rather on GoG.

smashalot: This is ridiculous, I'm unable to get a quest because the quest give is stuck in the Tree Farm. They fixed it and numberous other game breaking issues from what i can read on the STEAM patch notes days ago.
You can catch him at events as I did. Or wait until the tree farm becomes accessible later, the quest will wait for you and solving it is not timed either, I think. And it's a sidequest, not main mission on top of all that.

The situation with missing game update IS bad, but your definition of "game breaking" might need a little update too.

This quest wasn't gamebreaking.however, there are other numerous issues that are, please reread what i said. Go look at that 1.1 update...its a loooonnng list. Steam now has 7 hotfixes/updates to 0 here. THAT is the big issue.

Anothername: It would also help if you can explain your planned patch process for gog opposed to steam to set some minds at ease. As said, ppl here are jumpy because of some bad past experiences and less likely to give the benefit of doubt.

Yeah, you are. Kind of happy I had not the time to play. I would be pretty upset too if I had already bought it; at least by now.

I still consider getting the game here at some point but not before they add the patches though.

What a complete joke... all this time and we STILL get an outdated update! Steam is on 1.1.130102 as of this post... we waitied this long and got 1.0.5760

This was all I needed to know I need to go ahead and request a refund
