Jarmo: ... but actually everybody should just purchase Warband and play that instead.
Because better in every way is just better.
Cygnette: ... which is what I did! Thanks GOG for the giveaway and the promo to try this good somewhat-old game! :-)
Which is what I just did as well. When I tried out the giveaway I knew I had to get Warband as well.
Some expansion modules don’t exist for Warband and are M&B only, so it’s actually good to have vanilla Mount and Blade, too.
For example,
A Song of Ice and Fire,
Star Wars Conquest and
The Last Days of the Third Age don’t exist for Warband but are modules for the first Mount & Blade.
lz8: Yup, glad I got this one as a freebie earlier. Haven't fired it up yet. That's one of the things about GOG -- it's easy to get a sizeable backlog. I've hours & hours of stuff just waiting for me!
Heck yeah, so many good old games, so few hours to play. I gotta cut down on buying and get on playing the games ;)
Edit: I just noticed that
Last Days of the Third Age also works on Warband—with the help of a special patch.
