Neonshuffler: +1 the manuals gave little bit of background and all the moves if I remember correctly. I know you can find it all on the net but having them would be a nice touch.
Paradoks: What was in the manual may depend on the version. I know my MK3 manual didn't have any moves listed. But some additional stuff like official manuals would be great. Most moves are the same as arcade version but there are some slight differences like Dead Pool fatality for example.
That being said - a quick "reference card" for those who may need it. MK3 is manageable but for MK1 and MK2:
F10 - options menu
F1, F2 - player 1 start, player 2 start
Alt + P - Pause
Alt + Q - Quit
I only ever had mk2 on pc and just had the disk no manual so my experience with mk out side of the arcades was all on consoles so you are probably right. I remember the snes version of mk2 having move lists and background and the sega mega cd version of mk1.
Still if they had any of that it would be nice to read through for nostalgia.
tinyE: One nice thing about MK4, though some saw it as cheating :P, you could pause during a fight and look at a move list that included both regular fatalities and those for spiked rooms. I would imagine this can get kind of annoying when you are playing a friend and he keeps pausing every 2 seconds to remind himself how to do a sweep kick. :P
I always let people that never played the game before do that tbh and still do it today on the modern ones. :p
