I've been trying to get EMI running at a resolution higher than 640 x 480 in windowed mode with no luck. I've tried the suggestions here:

steamcommunity dot com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1936963724

www dot gog dot com/forum/monkey_island_series/escape_from_monkey_island_could_not_initialize_your_hardware

I was able to run it windowed at 1280 x 960 using the EMI launcher, but the menus and cutscenes were bugged, making it unplayable.

I tried using a development build of ScummVM and I was able to play windowed, but the scaling options didn't work.

Using dgvoodoo 2, I was able to run it in windowed mode, but I can't prevent the game from changing my monitor resolution to 640 x 480 on launch. On the compatibility tab for Monkey4.exe, I unchecked "Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution" but it didn't help. Oddly, the bottom and right side of the game window are cut off at this monitor resolution.

The best I've managed so far is using dgvoodoo to run it in windowed mode and changing the monitor resolution from 640 x 480 to 800 x 600 after the game launches. The game is still the same resolution, but at least the bottom and right side don't get cut off. I can live with that, but I'd appreciate any suggestions on improving it.

When you figure something out please let me know I just tried to livestream the game on Twitch and it played in a really crappy window.

I'm afraid I was unable to improve on this. I just finished streaming this tonight, so I'm not going to keep struggling with it, but just in case it helps at all, I've attached a screenshot of my exact dgVoodoo and compatibility settings.

Before launching, I change my monitor resolution to 800 x 600. Launching the game will still automatically change the screen resolution to 640 x 480, but this way my other windows don't get moved around as much. I launch it via GOG Galaxy with no additional command line arguments. Then I resize my monitor resolution again to 800 x 600 because otherwise the bottom and right side of the window get cut off. I think this may be because my monitor doesn't properly support 640 x 480, so this may not apply to you.

I had to use display capture as neither game or window capture could detect it. I guess if you don't have a second monitor, this set up wouldn't work for you. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Good luck!
