I own an original copy of EMI, but I can't get it to work properly with a modern controller. I was considering buying this version, but before I do, can anyone tell me if this game works properly with a Steam or Xbox controller?

Is it really a point and click game though? It is an adventure game, no doubt, but it isn’t mouse controlled and plays more akin to an JRPG without the complicated RPG elements.

Yes it does, at least for me. It's disabled by default, though, you need to go into the options to enable it.
