Hm, I tried playing without any open windows in the background but it didn't help. Still it could have something to do with things changing in background. That would also explain why the rigs on which the probems occur are so different.

On the other hand I guess most people aren't having this problem at all because they play without HW acceleration.

EDIT: Tried again to mess a bit with certain compatibility options and now I think I figured it out. I got one flash in the main menu but after that it ran completely without flashes. I also closed all windows in the background again, maybe that helped too.

I tried that but white flickering still going, i really hate to play in software mode or in a window with 24' wide-screen monitor, i got W7 64 bits too, there is no real fix for this?

If what TheJoe says is causing the issue it may be worthwhile to try temporarily disabling your internet connection.

I mention this because with audio recording software the ethernet card, wired or wireless can often cause hiccups and stutters, visual and audio, on many systems when it accesses the internet or you connection while trying to record live audio. You don't even have to be on the internet for the card to still be trying to do something, especially if it's a wireless. Has to do with how the motherboard and OS access priorities to certain functions and can introduce latency while the system catches back up with the audio card. Maybe you're getting something similar happening with your video card and the available resources?

Not sure that it would be helpful but it's an east solution to test and would certainly prevent any interaction with your system and the internet or your router/connection while you play. I'm about to jump into this game real soon so I'm hoping that I don't have this issue!

Nothing, no internet, no windows, it´s something about 3d acceleration on full screen, i think there is no fix for this...

For me EA's Origin app is the culprit.

If I have Origin resident (even minimised to the taskbar) I get a flicker of grey/white every minute-ish.

No Origin and no problem at all.

I had to close every other program visible either in the task bar or in the notification area. The browser, SpeedFan, some background scientific software, joystick software, Steam, all of that. Then it worked fine.

Looks like the problem is any program trying to access display in background or whatever. Even if some of them are just harmless icons sitting there. For example, SpeedFan displays CPU temperature so it definitely causes screen updates, but closing just it didn't help (although it did reduce flickering noticeably), I had to close other things too. Maybe by trial and error I could find which applications are safe to run, but simply closing everything did the trick.

You do realize you neglected to mention which M&M game you're having a problem with, right?....;)

@Alqualos.... OK looks like you fixed it. Yes, some background programs can cause problems with other running programs...you should run the game again with the same programs open in the background and then close them one by one until you isolate the program causing the problem.
