In MM8 (Day of the Destroyer)

1. I've noticed that in every game I start, after a certain amount of time (not sure when it is), all regenerative powers of any sort STOP. Any items of Mana or Regeneration, etc, no longer regenerate SP or HP, and even my characters' Regeneration powers stop. I.e neither Trolls, Vampires or Lich's regenerate any more. At first it works fine, but it's usually after I get into the game a bit (say, after I bring Overdune back to Alvar) that all regenerative properties stop working. Any ideas?

2. The black potions that I get from the "Do you have the ingredients" quests here and there (Potion of Pure Speed. Pot of Pure Intellect, Pure Luck, etc etc) slowly one by one disappear from my inventory over time. I was saving these for the appropriate characters when I recruited them later, but when I went to give them the potions, poof, gone. This isn't THAT big of a deal, since I can just re-make them, but it makes me wonder if other things are disappearing from my inventory.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.
I'm not sure what to tell you; I haven't seen either of those problems. Do you have any mods installed?

I believe there are some trees that will empty a potion from inventory, if you click on them. They aren't super common, though.

Hey, thanks for the response, Bookwyrm. I was just about to respond here and say that I found out what was causing the regenerative powers to stop. I was going to a save editor and backing up the date to make more of the barrels appear across the land (In my overly self-justifying mind, I figured that was a little more honest than just typing in stat numbers. Yeah, I know. Still guilty.) Anyway, just on a hunch, I went back into the save and re-adjusted the time back to what it was supposed to be, and suddenly all regenerative properties were working again. So that one's solved.

Beyond what you said about clicking on certain trees making items disappear from your inventory, I'm still at a loss for why things disappear from my inventory. That might just be it, since it doesn't happen that often. If I confirm for sure that that's what it is, I'll report back.

Thanks for the help.

Edit: no, I don't have any mods installed.

Well, that's an interesting insight into how they handled regeneration! XD

Good luck figuring out the other one!

I believe I've found it. Apparently, the devs though it would be a great idea to make certain plants and trees do weird things to your inventory when you click on them. For example, in Ravenshore, there is a tree behind Reaver's home that will query through your inventory every time you click on it, and if it finds a potion, it will empty it out and replace it with an empty potion bottle! So, if you had your black potions at the top of your lead character's inventory (like I did), after you click on this tree a few times, you will have nothing but empty potion bottles. Yay. I'm not even kidding. Here's the link that explains everything:

Edit: Only weird thing is, I don't remember actively clicking on that tree. Maybe I did by accident or something.

That's what I meant above, about there being some trees that will empty a potion.

There are a few others scattered around the world that do different things. There's a tree in Ravenshore that acts like a high level chest, with a fairly strong trap and an artifact in it. There are a few(?) trees on the mountain behind the city section of Alvar that do a few things (related to gem stones, if I recall correctly). I think there's a buoy somewhere that does something, but I might be confusing that with a different MM game.
I like to think of it that you water the tree with the potion.

There are also some easter eggs like that not related to trees in MM6-8.

There is a buoy in MMVI that set off fire works.

Let me tell you, that is one strong, intelligent, charismatic, durable, accurate, speedy, and lucky tree now. I wouldn't fight it.

Don't be scared of it. That tree is all bark and no bite.
