I'm trying solve the puzzles but I see a limit of characters. Maybe is because I'm playing in windows mode? Or is a bug? Is it MM5

You don't have to type the whole sentences, only the missing vocals for most riddles.

The puzzles give you part of common English sayings. You solve the puzzle by providing the missing letters. If you don't know the underlying idiomatic sayings, the puzzle may be very difficult to solve. The included hint book provides the solution to all of these, if I remember correctly. Also, one of the answers is misspelled. It should be beggars, but the designers spelled it as beggers.

So does the game, actually. In two places, as a matter of fact.

The Might and Magic series, at least through MM5, has a habit of including puzzle spoilers somewhere in the game itself, though usually in a late game area (though, in this particular case, you can actually find the answers not far from where the puzzles are).
