its the 3 games merged with some of its own quests and twists, was a pretty good experience even tho the end gets boring cause you're just too op. you can download it from heroes n it was pretty easy to get working, guess it depends on how good you are with computers tho

It essentially combines Might and Magic 6, 7, and 8 into one giant game.

I don't consider this an improvement myself. There are too many disparate elements that don't go together since they were intended for different games. But if you've already played the series and want to try something different, that's up to you.

I'm familiar with the three individual games. The merge sounds like something I might want to try. I looked at celestial heaven hero forum and was turned off by all the different files and apparent required knowledge level. I need a merge install for idiots. I've gotten in trouble for moving things around and accidentally deleting some of the wives stuff. If I can't simply press an install button I generally don't go there.

I am intrigued by the combining of the games but do have reservations. Do you continually progress thru the whole game or start from level one in each game? How are skills managed? I normally max all skills before the end of one game. Is character progression throughout the games or does it become stale after a while? I imagine going from killing dragons at the end of 6 to killing dragonflies at the beginning of 7. At level 1 it's fun. At level 50 what's the point?

If anyone knows of a good support site for the merge please share. I'm still weighing whether or not I want to attempt this.

well I don't think you're gonna get an install button and done out of anywhere, plenty of people would probably be willing to help you sort it out through teamviewer or discord screenshare though.

there's extra difficulty scaling so the dragonflies will be a lot stronger after you finish mm6 than they'd normally be at the beginning of 7, but ye you keep your levels and get to play with the skills of different games and if you mess up your party you can get new members like in mm8.

I can't help with the installation part as I have never tried it. Just played the games individually.

Here's the install instructions:

1. download MM8 from GOG
2. following 3 files needs to be copied into MM8 folder in that exact order.

3. put MM8 folder into desktop
4. set mm8.exe into Windows Service pack 2 (or 3) compatibility mode.
5. check difficulty & bolster settings once in game (ingame esc/controls/extra setting on top)

Completed step 1, no problems. Next I'm told to copy the following 3 files in which there are 4. So I clicked on all 4 and downloaded them (I guess). What do I copy into MM8 folder? Don't understand what step 3 or 4 are asking me to do.

I'm sure this is all very simple to those who understand it. Unfortunately I'm an idiot. I'm beginning to think that if I can't handle installing the game then maybe I have no business even trying to play it. I have great respect for those who find this type of thing easy. Perhaps I'm too old and surviving a stroke seems to have tapped all of my patience.

copying the files means extracting them from the zip file into your might and magic 8 game folder on your pc, for me the link in the file explorer is "K:\gog\Might and Magic 8", if you have no idea how to find the game folder you'll need more help than a forum post can provide you.

step 3 means moving that folder to your desktop ( the main screen that opens up when you launch your pc )

step 4 is finding mm8.exe inside of the folder, right clicking it -> properties -> compatibility and changing the mode

step 5 is just ingame settings

Well I tried again and failed. No problem finding the folder. GOG makes it easy. No problem moving it to desktop. Files I downloaded don't have an extract option (right click). Zip files won't open when clicked on. Right clicked mm8.exe and went to properties. No option to alter compatability anywhere.

I appreciate the attempts to help. I'm running windows 10. Maybe someone in the future can package the files into a single install option for those of us who like to play but can't set the clock on there microwave.

actually sounds like you almost got it, you should download winrar or winzip to be able to unpack zip files.
you probably dont even have to change the compatibility settings but if you do you can click the "change settings for all users" which should let you change them.

Continually progress, I believe. It is a mod of one of the games (MM8?) so the classes and skill system are as in that one. You jump around between stories, eg after going a short way into one you'd come across an ad for MM7's contest and be able to go enter that. No need to finish one before starting the next. (Or so I remember reading)

Well guess what, I finally got the thing to work. Started off in New Sorpigal with Knight/Paladin/Cleric/Archer/Dark Elf. Everything seems to be working for the most part. Memberships in Berserker's Fury and the Smugglers guild isn't working. I get the message to purchase but am unable to click on it. It looks like all the skills are incorporated in other places so perhaps these guilds are obsolete now. Also cast wizard eye with my archer and bless with the paladin 3 game days ago and the spell points have not replenished when resting and the spells have not worn off. Spell points are not replenished when using the well in town. I'm not sure if this is right or not. The program has been floating around for years now so this must be something with my system.
