Hi all, is there a way to mod the preset skills each character class gets? For example, I'd like the Knight to start with Sword and Arms Master rather than Sword and Leather.

Also, in an unrelated question, does the Scholar hireling have 100% identification chance on all items? If that's true it could free up the ID Item skill to learn on one of my other characters...

Yes.

As for the modding, it's possible to create one by playing around with the extracted files (check Grayface's website). But a much easier solution would be to create your knight normally, start the game and save it, and then use an editor to change its skills.

Thanks, I think an edited saved game should be much less of a headache...

I'm a little unclear on why you'd want to do this. It seems like it would be fairly simple to just go buy the armsmaster skill, and just don't wear armor if you don't want to use Leather on the Knight.

I could understand if you wanted someone to use something that the game doesn't let them use (ex. give a Sorcerer Plate), but your example doesn't face that restriction.

I find it a bit strange that the Knight starts with the Leather skill as a preset when he/she can grandmaster in Plate, so I would have liked to mod my game to what I think a Knight's presets should be. I understand it wouldn't matter for someone who doesn't care about that sort of thing and is happy going through the game with a useless Leather skill on their Knight but... I guess I'm not one of those people ;)

Fair enough. For each of my characters, I make a point of buying every single skill they can learn. Since skills are pretty cheap, the completionist in me can accept no less, even if I might never actually have the character use the skill.

I can understand a Knight just starting out only having learned how to use basic armor, and to me a Knight without any skill in any sort of armor would feel odd. Anyway, good luck with it!
