In M&M1 I'm averaged around lvl 8. It takes around 14000 to get to the next level, and I get around average 400 exp per battle, and rest after every battle.

At this rate, I should name all my characters Methuselah by the time I'm strong enough to fight the final boss.

I am aware that quests boost a bunch of EXP but with all the King Quests I haven't done (that I'm aware of) the dungeons are much too difficult for my party. I assume there are countless random quests if I just wander around, like the Zom/Zam wizards? Because I wander quite a bit and have hardly found any. (At least not any I'm strong enough to do, I tried the Ranalou quest but failed miserably, the Succubus in Portsmith is way beyond my skill level, and I won't even dare attempt the Minotaur castle. Even then the last King Quest I did only gave me a measely 3000 EXP which while is a good boost is nowhere near getting close to next level.

So I'm asking, is there some more convenient way to level up? Or have I been playing wrong? Because to be honest, seeing as I've mapped out tons of places, I have no issues of starting over, as exploring/mapping took a lot of sidetime and may be why my characters are a few years older than they should. (But then again, I fought tons of monsters while mapping as well)

Edit: I've been thinking this over, and the exp grinding only "looks" like a lot due to the big numbers. 400 goes into 14000 35 times. So really, an average of 35 battles isn't that much at all. I believe I've been overthinking this.

You should at least mention which game you're taking about.

Fixed it. Thank you, I'm trying the Portsmith Sewers now, though the Ogres are just exactly my equal in strength, as I can just barely win with no causalities. The problem was, that I rested immediately after fighting and was thrown into a battle with the statue guards... I really hate those statue guards...

Have you got a cleric and a sorceror in your party? If so Lightning bolt and Fly for the sorceror and create food from the cleric should mean you can avoid resting and healing anywhere too dangerous/expensive. I used the town of Portsmith itself for my levelling up/grinding time.

You may want to check out the Wyvern Peaks (sector C-3 I believe). I started going there around level 9 and the experience and gold gains were bar none. And...

Oh okay thanks :) I have two sorcerers and spam lightning bolt like crazy, as the battles end much much faster that way. But I shouldn't rely on it too much as there are areas where magic is forbidden. But luckily my Warrior and Paladin are pretty tough and have weapons that effect monsters immune to physical attacks like "those statues..." but while my cleric is very useful, I can't stand my rogue. As she is completely useless. She's very weak, her attacks almost always miss, and if I use her to avoid a trap the trap is always sprung regardless. (Maybe I'm doing it wrong?)

Wyverns peak is definitely another good place to go, I used that later in the game when I played it recently. If the number of wyverns there scales with the party then you should be able to use that once you can use lightning bolt. If it's too difficult you can always stick with Portsmith!

If you can do some of the kings quest they will help.

Was going to ask if you've equipped the robbers tools but then read your post again :-). Don't know if it makes much difference but I tried to give my rogue any items that improved their luck as well.

You don't have to beat the Succubus. What I did was dose my party up on Speed potions. In particular my fastest member- I put wizz bane up to 50 speed. Then when I confronted the succubus I RAN. I got to complete the quest, got my exp points and later lost my gold key to give up on the game.
OH and level 8 should be OK to beat the Minatuars- if you skill up to level 35 on skill potions.
