I'm still playing games like Etrian Odyssey, Demon Gaze, Strangers of Sword City; but they all are like old Wizardry games. I see in indie games, or in triple AAA references to Ultima gameplay. Now We have games like Legend of Grimrock to remember Dungeon Master, Eye of the beholder - and modules maked in the same engine of the game (I hope they put modules mechanic in the bard's tale trilogy remake :\ and gog make a golden box games remake). But all this don't is the same of Might and Magic, and it make me sad, because in my country Brazil they know just the Heroes series :\ if know*. I'll pray for Jon Van Canegham take back the Might and Magic ip. Even heroes have a spiritual sucessor (I dunno if it is good or no - the new kings bounty). - sorry for my english, I'm still learning.

I enjoyed the game Sword and Sorcery: Underworld which is heavily inspired by early tile-based Might and Magic games, especially MM1 and MM2. It was actually updated to a Definitive Edition after I played it, which looks to have included an update to the combat system to make it more unique (it used to be an almost exact copy of the combat from MM1 and MM2), as well as various graphical and interface updates. You might want to check it out:

(it's also available on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/408400/Swords_and_Sorcery__Underworld__Definitive_Edition/)

There was a sequel in development called Sovereign but I'm not sure if it's still being worked on or not.
I've played the old demo of Sword and Sorcery to test, but is it lagging on my pc, they updated this in definitive edition?

I don't know, I never played the Definitive Edition. But, I did not have lag playing the old version either, so I'm not sure what caused it for you.

It looks like there is an updated demo for the Definitive Edition, so you can try that and see if it still lags. Downloadable from the creator's site: http://www.olderbytes.com/
The guys who built the first RPG were all Dungeon and Dragon fans. I suspect that made all the difference. The way Ultima and M&M changed and finally ended are too similar to be a co-incidence. Those D&D guys must have had a great sense of gameplay.
